SCAM
This is a scam! I saw the magic jack on tv and completed the order in the understanding they would charge a one time few of 63.00 and 3.00 per month afterwards! This is NOT what happened! I am now negative 205.00 at my bank!!! The 1st payment that was drafted was 139.30, definitly NOT 63.00 like they said on tv! and then another draft of 93.80! As of this month! MARCH 2010! I just hope this doesnt happen next month! I am a disabled person and can not provide for my self if this continues! I have no idea how I am going to get out of this debt!!! I am doing this to WARN YOU!!! DO NOT DO WHAT I DID! ITS NOT WORHT IT!!! PLEASE BE AWARE AND DONT GIVE YOUR BANK NUMBER OUT! I surely hope I have helped someone before this happens to YOU!

CC Charged
The 30 day free trial is a scam! They say they don't charge your card for 30 days but when I checked my account a few minutes after leaving the website the charge was already pending. I never even submitted the confirmation because I started to feel leary about the product and I never got a confirmation email but they're still showing as a pending transaction on my account. The customer service number is just a recording with no live person to answer. I'm disputing this with my bank IMMEDIATELY!! This is a SCAM!!

does not work
i purchased a majic jack for my desktop computer and it does not work., i tried to get customer service for help and got no help in correcting the problem. i do not want to keep this majic jack and i would not recommend it to anyone. i want a refund, but don't know how to get my refund.

Bought Magic Jack to help with phone expenses family long distance call. My husband has cancer and need to keep family informed. Jack will not call out or in only states on call in that no one here leave message or that voice not working.On call out it dials but doesn't ring. Have been on computer with tech's several times and got no where. What a joke and a bad one at that. How do they stay in business if there are nothing but complaints that this doesn't work. Also out money for something I can't use. Can't call and talk to anyone or e-mail it's like they don't exsist on this earth.

Magic Jack scam
Kindergarten quality support, wasted $%%#ing hours on their chat. Promised 3 times to email solution to my problem, nothing ever came. Support staff ask you to wait and claim they are reading previous chats but they're just sitting around drinking coffee because their questions prove they don't read anything. Ask the same stupid standard questions on each chat. Misleading advertising leads you to believe that you can call overseas to family and friends for free but you can't. You can take the MJ overseas and call to N America but not from N. America to overseas. Many int'l countries block MJ so you can't even use it in many overseas countries as well. Their access # for cheap cell phone calls doesn't work either when travelling internationally. They wouldn't dare risk an 800 # for support because their staff couldn't take the abuse from IRRATE customers. Read the other forums. They have a terrible track record

Shouda Wouda Couda.. OMG! people, sure wish I would have used Google search, and typed in Magic Jack, before phoneing the T.V.,
1 800 960 6957 order number. With this company MagicJack, the old adage "buy'er Beware" surely stands. People! please do a little homework, before you call a company like this, and then be stupid enough to hand over, your personal information ; eg: banking, or credit card #, Email etc, etc.. You will be one sorry Sad Sap. Customer Service forget it, there is NONE. Once you pass over your info:, by phone or by Email, Magic Jack has got you, everything or future transaction is Virtual cyber space, round and round we go. NO company customer service rep to speak with, extremely hard to navigate their website. You will find it is all Smoke and Mirrors. Ask yourself, do you want to do business with a company like this? Please stop and think, before doing business with them. Magic Jack should be investigated for public fraud. They must have had at least 10 Florida lawyers draw up their contracts and virtual "BS" web page. Totally consumer unfriendly. Q. Where is a proper and ligitimate ph# to your said company, found anywhere on your web pages? Why can we Not talk with a live person, representing your company? What are you trying to hide MagicJack?..
To make a really long story short, MagicJack has made it really hard for any of us potential customers, or customer, to RETURN their product., within their 30 day trail period. I Do Not have enough time to tell you all, the trouble and time i spent waisted on trying to contact this company by PH or Email, to try and CANCEL my order, before they shipped it. To No avail.. and then there is the episode on getting a return RMA # to accompany the return item the"MagicJack". Oh Yes! people, you will also need to get a Tracking # to accompany this returned item. Yesterday, it cost me $15.00(cdn) at Canada Post, for that service. That Fee will be a Loss to you and me, and non recoverable. I have phoned my Bank and Visa, they are "aware" of this company and situation, and willing to step up to bat if needed, to hopefully recover my initial order (monies). This is now, a wait and see scenario (unfortunately).
I will also be contacting the "BBB" and forwarding a complaint against MagicJack.
Bottom Line: MagicJack makes it very and extremely hard for anyone to contact them personally. (Smoke & Mirrors).

Refund and Product Not Working
I ordered for Magic Jack after a commercial on TV to have a house phone that was affordable. They charged my credit card approximately $47.00. They sent the Magic Jack and I followed instructions but it never worked. I got online with their technicians who've tried to help me by chat and they haven't been able to. This has been since last year may. I contacted Magic Jack to refund my money but they have totally refused stating that after 30 days there are no refunds. I've never used the service, their own technicians can't assist me and I've had to go with Phone Power which works great and is very affordable for local and long distance including Canada. All I need is my money back and I'll leave them alone but if not, I'll make a video and upload it on You Tube spreading the word of how badly they conduct business.

Defective MJ
I was in MJ tech support chat box for about the 100th time in 2 years. I went there again today here is the exact text- Sonny: Hello, how may I help you?

I have had my MJ almost 2 years...in those 2 years I've spent hours in this chat box trying to get it to work correctly...it never does, sometimes it works, most times not. Now it has started something totally different...people call and I can't understand them...their voice is all broken up, I try repeatedly to call them back but it keeps doing the same thing...I've dont the fix...I've done the upgrades MANY MANY times...I've tried and tried many times to get you to send me a NEW one. I think mines defective and always has been...my sister JUST got one, shes my neighbor and has the same internet provider ..hers works perfectly. I don't understand WHY you won't send me a new one you've made millions on the sale of MJs yet from the first week I had mine it didn't work, why won't you send me a new one??? I'm on disability and this is my only phone, my only way to call out.

Attention to future buyers of this product...read the service agreement, they do NOT back up any defective MJ, there is NO corporate number to call, they keep that from the public, to get tech support you have to stay in that chat box for hours, because it's not "one on one" chat they are helping many at one time so u sit and wait 1/2 the time they give u a resonponse meant for someone else, when ever they do decide to come back to you..horrible horrible company and customer service!!!

Technical service
Magic Jack would not receive calls. When I called my Magic Jack number, would get a recording that the party at (another number) was not available, please leave a message.
Contacted Magic Jack via chat and spent 2 days talking to 6 different tech support people. removed magic jack software twice and reloaded it twice, went through all kinds of hoops that did nothing. Last techie said to leave it plugged in for several hours, then try it again. Same results. I tried to tell them that the number they had assigned me was being forwarded to another number, but they did not respond to that. After trying it again, I went on the Magic Jack home page and requested a change of my phone number. I was required to pay for the change ($4.95) After I changed the number, the Magic Jack worked exactly as advertised. I contacted the Tech people to ask if it was proper to charge me for the number, since I had fixed the problem they could'nt

ray Johnson: I just want to tell you that I have tried for 2 days to discover why I could not receive calls on the original number, 205-265-6023. When I tried to call my magic jack phone, I received a recording stating that the person at 305-some number was away, leave a message. I chatted with 6 of your tech people, and never got it fixed. This afternoon, I decided that the number that you had assigned me had been forewarded to another number. I then went in to my Magic Jack and requested a change of my number. It is now 205-552-6596 and it works fine, but I was charge to change the number. I don't feel like I should have to pay to fix the problem that your tech people could not fix.

ray Johnson: Here's the deal. I charge $77.00 an hour for my time repairing firearms. I spent 5 hours troubleshooting your problem with my magic Jack. That comes to $385.00. Just net out the $4.95 and send me a check for $380.05 and we will call it ever!

ray Johnson: Is that your customary response to a customer? I am just yanking your chain, and hoping you will foreward this to someone in your organization who cares something about customer relations. I got the darn thing working by using a little common sense. If I dialed my number and the number was forewarded to another number, it was apparant to me that it was a bad number. You had 6 people who I had told exactly what was happening and they did not have enough sense to suggest changing the number.

Maxwell: Please be informed that if I will cancel your order, the charge for $4.95 will be refunded to you but you will not be able to use the new number. Do you want me to cancel it?

ray Johnson: Maxwell, If you are reading a script, put it down. I have got the damn thing working, regardless of your company inept technical people, and no, I don't want to cancel it, but I will not advise anyone I know to buy one due to the sorry tech support, and the lack of a number to call with technical concerns.
