Will not recommend this to anyone
I have the magic jack for a couple of months now and it's not worth the cost. It won't let me call out 50% of the time and the audio is hard to hear. Sometimes the audio is so broken up you can't make out what the other person is saying. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone.

area codes
They do not tell you that some area codes are not available for your phone number. I ended up having to choose a phone number in a different area code so persons who call me have to pay for long distance.

Buyer beware
It appears the jury is not totally out on this product--really. I wanted to rush out and immediately purchase a magic jack after discovering it via a recent article online. I didn't and I won't based on what I am reading--both good and bad. And for those that do: "Buyer Beware." And for individuals wishing to offset cell phone costs and have ditched conventional landlines, a great alterntive is Skype, which I've been using for a couple years. For approx. $21.00 every 3 months, I have both unlimited calling and a phone number. Great clarity and Skype is always soliciting feedback on call quality. Worth every penny. Now if I can only find a product to ditch the cell phone, I'd be in nirvana. Because, I loathe the greedy, to big for their britches, cell phone carriers.

product will not work.
This product will not work without 3G networking. The words to that effect or no where on the outside, packaging. The words 3G networking, are only found after you purchase the product.

IS IT A SCAM??
I reside in Canada and own a magic jack. The website indicated (still does) that if you dont find your area code, go ahead and cjhoose any area code because you can change your number once for free once this area code becomes available. Now all major cities in Canada are in the magic jack list. When I called to change, I was told I can't because it is only available for new clients!!!

It seems that they dont care about existing clients and they just like to attract new ones!

No Refund for 30 day trial
I ordered the Magic Jack, I received it on September 18, 2009.The ad states 30 day risk free trial period, but $46.90 was immediately taken from my checking account. I returned the item post marked on October 15, 2009 within the 30 days trial period, to date I have not received my refund. I have had live chats with representatives from Magic Jack, still no refund. Please advise me as what steps I need to take to get my refund

Horrible Customer Service
Magic Jack didnt work for a whole year for us, just froze our computer every time we used it. After getting a new computer this year, we asked for a year of service back as compensation for technical issues they couldnt solve. We didnt ask for a refund.<br />

If it works, its great. If you have problems, you are just run around in circles by someone on a chat line who keeps asking you the same question rephrased again and again and finally just asks you to go away. So much for fairness and real communication.

What a rip off
I spent 13 hours with this product. I tried to get it to work on my computer and dealt with various techs, no luck. I would not reccomend this to anyone. They are misleading and drag it out as long as they can. I am returning it hopefully it will end ok.

Massive scam
DO NOT BUY INTO THIS SCAM OPERATION. To entice new customers to sign onto their service, they promised that customers would be able to use their existing phone numbers with Magic Jack by the end of the year. They have completely renigged on that promise, as such a service is not available. We can only use numbers they assign, which does many of us no good whatsoever. Now they utterly refuse to pay refunds, despite failing completely to deliver what they promised in their ads and are still promising at this writing. In fact, they can offer NO prediction when or if existing phone numbers will ever be available to use through Magic Jack in 2010. MASSIVE SCAM.
