bad service and no support from cust service
This is a complete joke. This is a great novel idea, if only in the hands of the right, knowledgeable people. Firstly, they lie and say that its free for 30days to use but charged my debit full amount . Then I paid 10$ total with express shipping from Florida, where its shipped from and site says should receive it within 3-10 days regular shipping and expedited 2-4 days, which I received it 5 days later and i only live in nyc. Then I get the thing, with very little instructions on the box. It just directs you to their website with all the details of how to register. There's a FAQ section that explains how to set the device up, but you have to scroll through pages for hours just to get this info. Until you finally get fed up because the damn thing doesnt work, theres an option to speak on live chat. Only to get someone more clueless than you on the other end. I spent 7 count it, 7 hours on chat with these rude, incompetent #@#$%. They are very unprofessional and rude and make sure they dont provide a cust service number or even address for complaints. Dont waste your time. They are a rip-off. God forbid you chat live with the stupidest reps Reyna or Josh. You'll wish you could drag them through your computer screen. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Dont waste your time or money folks.

Arrogant Customer Service Attitude
I attempted repeatedly to buy the five year package of service from magic jack at $59, but their system kept saying my perfectly legit credit card was invalid. Finally, I went into their chat room (they have no phone number or physical address) and asked what was going on. They said I had to 'register' my credit card first - although nothing in the five year service purchase screen said so. They also said they had raised the price the day before and that I would not be allowed to purchase the package for the price available during the period when they had been improperly refusing my card. When I asked to appeal this to management my chat was terminated. I am a VIP with a lot of contacts and influence - and I shall be warning everyone I know not to do business with these charlitans.

Bad business experience
Magic Jack Order # DT03304017 on 10/24/2009. Free trial for 30 days. We changed our mind, and did not open the package which was returned the very next day it was received followint magic jack return policy. Yesterdy December 03/2009 an email from magic jack was received stating that the refund was denied because the return was too late and longer than the thirty days free trial. Do you believe that? From a supposidly respected company . No money, but we can send you a new mgic jack. That is a bad twist, and bad business.

Fraud
I paid for a 5 year service only to have it deactivated after 1 year. When I contacted the Tech support all I got was a run around. They said it would be reactivated after 24 hr period but it never was. I have also been locked out from my account with them and even their agents say they can't get in either. I have been told their engineers are working on the problem. As I have spoken to about 6 different agents but never getting to any above the second level of service and non of these has done anything other that to tell me to check back from time to time and see if it has been fixed. The product support is horrendous. These AGENTS lie and mislead you into thinking something is being done when in fact nothing is being done at all. There is no way to contact them beyond the chat line and they are no help at all. This is a Scam Pure and Simple! "BAIT & SWITCH".
Don't Fall for this!!!

Piss-poor Service
Majic Jack really sucks sh*t. My mother and my sister have the service as well as myself. My mom recommended that I got the Magic Jack since they are so cheap. Well turns out half the time I am unable to make calls out or to receive them, and if I do get a call in it could be disconnected at any old time.
There was a day when my sister and I were having a rather important conversation on our phones when we were all of a sudden interrupted by a football game going on in the receiver.
I thought this phone service would be ideal since I do not make a lot if any money at all. I also believed that it would be a good thing to hook this service up in case my cell doesn't work due to loss of recepetion in the apartment building I live in or if it died and got lost somewhere.
Well... I got took and so did everyone who believed in this hunk of junk.
All the dropped calls and times of losing reception ON A LANDLINE not a cellphone!!! I live out of town, and alone, and what if by chance I needed to get ahold of family, nobody ill be there for me if I can't make any calls.
This is abominable and there is no valid company in existance as we know it. Just some greedy old ass man taking all our money so he can have enough of it to wipe his ass with a new sheet everyday.

Fraud - DO NOT BUY
Purchased a magic Jack in April 2008. I was unhappy they charged credit card immediately but believed I would save money on long distance charges so I ignored that. I tried it for a few days and it worked fine but I did not want to keep it plugged into the computer so I put it into a drawer where it has been until today. I have had the use of a cell. Today I needed to use it and I plugged it in and it told me that it had been deactivated.
I went to Chat - first person told me they would replace the unit if I sent it back within 10 days and would credit the $39.95 when they received it. I said I paid for this so why should I pay for another one and why is it inactive? He hung up on me. (This conversation took almost an hour)
I tried Chat again. This conversation took an hour. I tried to get an answer to why they would deactivate the unit since I paid for a year and only 7 months have gone by. I was told they would get back to me with an answer. Ya - and pigs fly.
ok - so I called my magicjack phone number from my home phone and got a disconnected number. HuH?
I truly believe that if you purchase this product and have any problem whatsoever beyond what is listed on their FAQ on the website you are out of luck.
Order this if you have money to burn and just want to try it - otherwise - go buy a phone card with cheap minutes. You will actually get your monies worth.

Unauthorized Billing
I ordered Magic Jack -- It works okay but I was billed an additional 39.90 for an additional years service on two lines. I did not sign up for this nor did I know it until I questioned my bill. At that time I was told it was too late to get a credit because the 30 day free period had passed. I also found out you had to insert a code to get credit for the extra year. Interesting and convenient since I would have never known that I had paid for 2nd year if I had not complained. I also only got the codes with the explanation of how to use them after I complained. Seems odd I would have bought an extra year before the trial period would have expired. In fact amazingly I bought the extra year before I ever even got the jack. I now have spent over an hour texting four differenct customer service representatives and have been promised an e-mail from the billing office. Another interesting point is that I never received an invoice until I contacted customer service. Of course the invoice showed that I had ordered the extra year for both jacks. Hmm Does anyone smell a class action lawsuit here. My guess is that the average american doesn't even realize they got scammed or gives up once they are reminded of the 30 day policy. I should have stayed with vonage

phone service
The Magic jack was working for a couple of months, but I was already having trouble with the service. I could not hear the other person on the other line or the call would get dropped. I plugged it into my computer just the other day and it asked me to confirm my e-mail address or my phone number and my password. I did exactly what it asked me to do in order to continue with my service. I did all that and it keeps telling me that the information is incorrect. I put in my phone number and it tells me that it is wrong. How can this problem be fixed? I tried talking to on line chat representative, but it cuts off when I start telling them of my problem. Is this a rip off or a scam where they take peoples money. It works for a while the you start having problems with it. I have tried every thing. Getting fustrated.
