Cannot make outgoing calls
I bought a Magic Jack connection and have installed on my computer. I can receive calls on the magic box line but I cannot make any outgoing calls.

SCAM
They took my money for the unit then cancelled my account and I have had no success resolving the problem. Basically they screwed me out of my money and said thx C ya. Now I am going to use the MagicJack as a Christmas orniment cause it is a paperwieght. So pissed off right now. If anyone starts a law suit count me in. Extremely unsatified customer !!! JBK

does not work
Magic jack is junk. Many times the voice is garbled and many times now there is no dial tone. You have to keep pulling plug and reinseerting and then it only lasts for a minute of dial tone and you must pull plug again. I want a refund and will try another company. Can you help me et a refund?

Up charge for local Area Code
When I bought my Magic Jack 6 months ago and connected and set up I realized that they did not have my Area Code available. This is a major problem is a bi state area. Not the AC becomes available and they demand $10 additional. Sounds like a deceptive way to up the cost of the product by 50%.

Charge me twice on my credit card.
I called magic jack in they said they weren't going to charge my card until the 30 days were up they lied in charged my account 2 times for 1 magic jack in that's not right I don't have no money to give away I have kids, and I'm pissed i want my fucking money back they took $95 dollars for 1 magic jack where they do that at. Thats false advertising anyway because they said wouldn't charge your card until 30 days but soon as I hung up they took my money. Scam, scam, scam.

Bad company
I had this for about 2 weeks, first; you have to keep your computer on all the time, unless you are just using it for long distance calls. Second:the quality is not that great, I kept feeling like I was talking in a tunnel.
third: if your cable is off so is your home service.
I sent it back for just those reasons, they promised to pay the shipping and they diod not, I aksied them to delete my service and they didn't I kept getting alerts to phone messages, and I meant I kept getting them for about 6 months my phone number and all my info was out there for anyone to *** into. The people were very rude if you got to talk to them at all.
My summary: If you have family overseas or across country, get them one and you can talk at specific times for as long as you want, and you might not care if the connections is not perfect all the time. For that I give it high marks for every day and your only phone I give it a low marks.

advertised 30 free service and charged me in a second. Then they wouldn't refund my money for another two weeks
I am unemployed and looking to cut my AT & T phone costs. Having seen Magic Jack advertised and sold all over the place, I looked them up on line and found a 30 free trial. I had to give my debit card number which was a flag. I should have trusted my instincts. I bearly got the last digit entered and wham, money was taken out of my account before I could blink an eye. I got a hold of them on live chat and was told that if I used a credit card I wouldn't have been charged. Then I got another person with different excuses. I tried to cancel my order and got the run around about that too. After 5 hours of getting the dodge from them, they canceled my order. I told them to release the charge pending on my bank account and was told that I had to wait 5-10 days to get my refund. I went to my bank and they said that the charge was pending and all they had to do is release the charge and all would be A OK. Tried to get a live chat again and could not do it. This went on for a day or so and I finally got another agent. Long story short and a week later, they refused to release my money. All they kept saying is be patient I will get my refund. They weren't so patient about charging my acct. so why should I have to wait for my refund. I filed a report with my bank and after they contacted Magic Jack, I got my money back. All but $1.00 that is. Yest they charged me $8.00 shipping and $1.00 fee for who knows what. I could have gone to the store and saved the shipping charges and feel secure that the store would refund my money. WHAT A SCAM. As they say, if it sounds to good to be true ----. Shame on the companies that sell this product. They are just as much at fault for selling a product that they know is not likely to work. Next time you see their ads on TV, think about how many people they ripped off to pay for those ads. If I could afford my AT & T bill, I would never had thought about this product. They use the people that are most in need.

Renewal Scam
Scammed on Renewal. When my subscription expired, I went to the website to renew. There were two choices, one year for $19.00, or five years for $69.00. No matter what you select, they will only accept the five year choice. You have no choice.

unit stopped working
It seem as thought the on going ads for the product do no speak of any Toll free number for the complaint dept. The dam thing just stopped working After several 1/2 hr chats on line with the so called support staff to no avail no one can fix the problem with my unit. To date I have purchased 2 (two) of the units after several months of use they just stop working all of the inforamtion (contacst)get lost when you buy a new one. This is a Bernie Maddoff sacm of the new decade
I think it is time The F. C. C. gets in on the Nation wide ripoff of people.
