Don't BUY MAGIC JACK!!! I have now permanently disconnected 2 MJ phones and chucked them into a bottom drawer. Too many complaints from people and business clients I tried to call and talk to. They complained about often hearing a "beep" sound, as if I kept accidentally bumping a button on the keypad of a phone...and I wasn't! They also complained that my voice would cut in and out like the worst cell phone service you've ever experienced. Also, when your phone rings and you pick up the receiver, half the time, you have to fight with the "on" button until you can hear the caller, and until the caller can hear you. Too many times, you will find that your voice is silent and the person that you were talking to starts saying, "hello?...Hello? Where did you go? I can't hear you. Are you still there?" Meanwhile, your frantically checking your phone, your cables, and looking at that little pop-up window wondering WTF?

The sad thing is that the first 2 weeks I had bought the first MJ phone, I didn't hear any of these complaints. Based upon that fact, I got excited and went out and bought a second MJ phone device!! I should've had my head examined. Within about 4 weeks after buying the second phone, all the reception quality of my phone calls went to hell.

I suspect that MJ company has a way of giving first time customers preferential reception quality and separately dedicated transmission lines from their cental computer terminals. Then...once your trial period has expired, they throw your phone numbers back into the 3rd rate service quality of all the other millions of idiots that went before me and bought their MJ phones. It's a bait and switch tactic, and it's a scam! This theory should be investigated.

It's very frustrating that you cannot get anyone to talk to, OR get any kind of reimbursement. So the best I can do for now is to plead with anyone thinking of buyng a Magic Jack phone...DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK!!! Order a land line cable company phone, or even as a last resort, use AT &T if you HAVE to. Anything is better than this garbage technology.

I BOUGHT THE MAGIC JACK FROM WALMART, WE REALLY THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE AWESOME, BOTH MY HUBBY AND I HAVE OWN HOME BUSINESS, THIS I THOUGHT WOULD SAVE US MONEY, UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE SPENDING MORE MONEY, WE ARE HAVING TO USE OUR CELL PHONE TO CONTACT OUR CUSTOMER WHICH AUTOMATICALLY WE ARE USING MORE MINUTES ON OUR CELL PHONES THIS IS AWEFULL YOU CAN'T MAKE OR TAKE CALLS, I HAVE NOT HEARD MY PHONE RING IN A LONG TIME, I WOOULD REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE HELL CAN WE DO? DESPERATE FOR SOME ANSWERS.

I bought magic jack trying to save some money . that was my first mistake, when i was not recieving good reception i bought a new phone, my second mistake. I also told other people of this product and how i thought it was a good deal, i will now tell them hoe poor the service is . I will also instruct them to check-out the complaint web site. the only way to fix this horible service is to refund me my full purscase price of $40.00 dollars . I feel this is a complete scam

I bought an international calling card for $20.00 in the magic jack website. After making several phone calls to Dominican Republic I was told I had 214 minutes left. Again I tried to call a cellular phone in DR; I couldnt connect it, but when I went to tried again the machine told I had only 107 minutes left, what! I did not used any minutes of the 214 mins I had, how can they charge me 107 minute for a call that did not go through?; theyare charging me 107 minutes to try a phone that did not answered my call? Got the Magic jack & thought everything was fine, until freinds let me know they were receiving a recorded message saying call cannot be completed as dialed. Turns out, I can't receive local call from anybody using Frontier. {our local landline carrier}. When I finally got somebody in their tech dep't., he told me I would have to take it up with Frontier. He also told me it wasn't their responsibility when I asked if they should make the call. Also, it slowed my computer's performance down dramatically. We have one program that we personalize kid's books & it wouldn't even load with magic crap attached to our computer. Complete waste of $40.00!!!
