Calls break up
I recently purchased a Magic Jack and we love the concept but sometimes our calls break up on our end of the call. I have looked for either a website or phone number to speak with someone but to no avail. Can you please help me to get a contact number. I want to keep the Magic Jack, if at all possible but would like to speak to someone about the audio issue.

Does not work continually
I purchased the magic jack at Walmart, installed on my computer everything is fine. Few days later I don't get anything but a busy signal go to customer service we go into my computer change a few settings an hooray i am back up and working, a few days later we are back to the same thing, we fix it again, back up and working. Now my 1st computer crashes ok older computer something normal for it's age, installed on one of the newer computers UH OH, we are doing the same thing all over again. Now, i am not only out the money for the magic jack, but five years of additional service, and since making a complaint to the so called agent the customer chat window will not recognize the phone number, or my email address. Also, a 2nd computer crashed and is having to be completely wiped clean, loss of time and info on two computers.
The saddest part about the whole thing is i did like the little system, but it is a scam since they have made it almost impossible to contact a customer service agent and all of the control is in there court.
Please be very careful if you decide to purchase make sure you put it on a credit card that you can dispute the charges with. I paid with a debit card and I am S.O.L.
It is a very sad that in today's economy corporations still feel the need to cheat to make money, it seems that is what got us in this mess in the first place.

I ordered Magic Jack 45 days ago. I can't dial out or receive phone calls. When I do get calls they go straight to voicemail.I contacted the chat help (which is the only way to talk with them) and they kept upgrading me to better service untill I reached the top 10% tech bye all the customers??? Who?? He did not fix anything ran me threw some upgrade and trouble shooting and then asked if I wanted THEM TO FIX IT ON "LIVE LOOK" !!! which told me I needed to upgrade my Java then call/chat back. AFTER 2 hrs on phone! I did and called back but NEVER got any real help again 4 more hours one day never got back to Live Look (too busy) then called at 5 a.m which they told me to do. Still busy said call at 10 a.m. Finally got them but it did nothing! After being left for dead 3 times and calling back nearly 3 hours I tried as a joke to ask for my money back!?? They asked why I explained then she said I'll be right back. AND NEVER CAME BACK!!!

crappy service and equipment

Scammers
I return 2 magic jacks of the 3 that was purchased, they refuse to return my money and they kept the 2 magic jacks now the 1 that I kept its not working I have been without one for over a week when I enform them that it was not working they told me to check back with them because they are updating their equipment as I said that was a week ago they are ripping people off that why they don't have a direct line to talk with some one.And they want me to pay 20.00 for another magic jack they already got 89.oo that they have not given back.they need to be put on the news so other people will know before they get rob.

Virus from Customer support
I bought a Magic Jack to use from a local Walgreens on Baymeadows Rd and San Jose. I used the Magic Jack a few weeks and it stopped working. I jumped through the hoops it takes to get to the online chat customer dis-service. After a half hour, several clicks, downloads and restarts, the device started working again. Great!


Two days later, I can't reach my family wife/kids on the Magic Jack phone while I'm out of town. I sat down at the computer to grind through the same horse and pony show one last time. Honey, the Magic Jack Customer service rep tells me to go through a series of upgrades, "repeat of the previous tech request".
I Did all the things the tech "Heather" asked like "Turn off the Firewall", suspend the "anti Spyware", disabled the "pop up blocker", then the tech puts a link on the chat box and says to click on it and it will fix my problem. Like a good sport i click on the link, I watch as my screen first locks, opens a website, then auto-downloads something. I try to chat with the tech and cant send my chat to the tech "Heather". My computer reboots and i get an error right after the Dell logo appears, a black screen appears and it reads "Remove disks or other media. Press any key to restart.

Heather the Magic Jack tech lead me to believe they were going to help me only to ruin my computer with a virus. When you have a similar experience contact the Better Business Bureau and your local Internet Crimes division of local law enforcement. Someone has got to stop these criminals. Magic is liable for what their employees do and should have to pay the repair shop for the damage and recovery cost.

Let our voices be heard, consumers are fed up with Customer NO-Service and then rogue employees who think its funny to slam a customer they can't get right.

I will take the computer case to the Geek squad and if they can recover proof that this was a virus attack instituted by the Magic Jack technician I will post it here and pursue every means necessary to hold Magic Jack accountable for allowing this type of nonsense to go on unchecked.

Bad service and no refunds
I bought a Magic Jack last week and found that they offer very bad service. The device does not fully work and the support is very poor. When attempting to get a refund, they denied this to me. And I only bought the device last week. I do not recommend anyone buy a Magic Jack. I rate it as 0/5.

can not call some people
Had some issues with this device in the last year, but deciced to renew. Since then, I can not make phone calls to my family which is the only reason that I got this stupid thing. She lives 20 miles away and I call and get three beeps and then nothing. Been contacting customer service for almost one month and getting no where. Keep getting transferred to one of the top 10 percent of agents-no one wants to do their job. Very frustrating.

Unathorized Authorization
I ordered free trial and agreed to $3.95 shipping, instead the charged me:
Date: 08/20/2010 Charge Amount: $4.14
The also put an authorization for the full amount of the purchase on my account. They claim it is the card company that is doing this but that is not true, MJ submitted it for authorization.

I don't have access to that money so i might as well have purchased it outright! I then get an email (after the fact) of them telling me they put this authorization on the card, without my consent. I agreed to pay it when the 30 day trial was up, IF idecided to keep the product.

Documentation of these transactions is available I SAVE EVERYTHING!

Monitors call numbers and services
MJ will deny connections to telepone numbers that THEY deem abuse of their service.
Any frequently called numbers and especially numbers that are for confrence call services that I use for business. I would call-in to a confrence that was hosted by a business and would be cut off in seconds or denied totally from getting in. My land-line and cell phone worked fine, but no MJ

Here is a transcript of the on-line support I got.

This also includes dialing into confrence calls that do not use MJ's confrencing service.

Abby: Hello, how may I help you?

Tom burgess: I am using MJ to join in on a confrence call that does not use MJ's confrencing service. MJ refuses to connect to a active confrence.

Abby: magicJack reserves the right to block calls to phone numbers that abuse its services. Any service provider who is currently being blocked may interconnect with magicjack for free so our customers may complete their calls. Have your conference service provider email us at [email protected]

Tom burgess: I got MJ specificly for this purpose and will send it back and demand a full refund for pre-paid services

Abby: Please contact the Telephone Carrier that you want to join in the conference call.

Tom burgess: I don't see how MJ can deny anyone a connection to any service, I see the potential for a serious conflict here

Abby: I understand that, please do let JH COX email us at [email protected]

Tom burgess: This service worked fine for several years and I had been happy until MJ decided to start enforcing this new policy

Abby: Please do bear with me.

Tom burgess: i don't know who jh cox is and do not know how to contact them

Abby: Please hold on while I check this out for you.

Abby: Thank you for patiently waiting.

Abby: As I have checked here in our end. That is the only way for you to connect to their conference call.

Tom burgess: make sure you pass this conversation onto YOUR supervisors and that they have not heard the last about this. I really think that an attorney can have lots of fun with this case. Since the only reason I have MJ is no longer working for me, I will demand a refund for the years of service I had prepaid, plus I will go out of my way to let everyone know on the internet about MJ knowing too much about what telephone numbers and services they use MJ for
