Poor Porformance
I have had MJ for 2 years now. It has never worked properly. I have been on numerous chat calls trying to fix my "Error 401" problem. I have given them access to my PC many times. Each fix was temporary. I am resigned to simply using MJ as a voice mail tool. Please don't buy this product. It is horrible. I don't think that the Chat People fully understand how to fix any problems that you might encounter. I operate Win7 which may or may not be part of the problem.

unauthorized charge
The official MagicJack website proclaims a 30 day free trial. However, when signing up for the trial, you are immediately charged for the magicjack(39.95), s&H, regulatory charges, etc for a total of almost $50.00. The excuse is that the 30 day free trial offer is only for credit cards.
As my bank confirmed, any card, whether debit or credit card, is considered a credit card and must be run as a credit card by the merchant in order to successfully charge the card. In other words, the merchant must treat a debit card like a credit card in order to be able to put a charge on it.
By signing up to the 30 day trial one agrees to the conditions of the 30 day trial. Thus, if the card is charged immediately, they are unauthorized charges. Don't hesitate to dispute them - and return the darn thing. There are better and less expensive options out there.

Customer Service
They have no telephone number or street address so it is impossible to get in touch with them. They cut my phone off. In texting with them I was told I would be receiving an eamil to tell me how to get reconnected. Over a week has passed, I texted them again and was told the same thing. They said that they had to follow SOPs. I have concerns with this company. They sound like Bernie.

Shoddy product, no service, no warranty, No support
The magic jack sounds great. It COULD be. It SHOULD be!
The product worked, not great but for the price, acceptable. Initially!
The cheap manufacturing quickly showed as quality of calls quickly dropped. There was a 2 second pause every thirty seconds or so. You are constantly saying what, repeat that, or your calling party is.
So after a year I bought a new device, hoping... It worked. Nice clear calls and no cutting out. For about a week.
The new box will only work with one phone plugged in, not enough power to activate two ringers I guess. Again, for the price... sigh.
So not quite 3 months in, it will only work through the computer. I can hear fine over the speakers, but I have no microphone so that isn't an option. Even a phone plugged straight to the box, nothing.
I contacted customer "service"... no number to call them its a chat box on the computer. And they are slower typers that I am! And don't seem to worry about misspellings, but that is another issue.
My old magic jack box is still in the drawer (packrat sorry). I plugged it up and it worked. But of course the service for THAT device expired. So can they transfer my 9 months to the same number? Of course not. That is not their customary policy. Didn't say they COULDN'T, only that is not policy...
They WOULD allow me to pay for another year and restore my old box, the one that cuts out every 30 seconds... what a treat!
I asked for a supervisor. Nope, that also is not their policy, since I was already talking to a senior representative... sheesh.
So they ended my session.
Will I buy another Magic Jack?
Right now I don't have the 39.95 for a new box and year's service. Of course its ONLY 19.95 a year... plus the cost of the device, they forget to say that on their commercials. The warranty reads return to place of purchase. Walmart. They will not accept returns from almost 3 months of course. So its a gamble - and the odds are stacked against you, of course!
If I could afford better, I'd have a real phone, or at least a reputable source. SO I have no phone until I save for a new device or someone finds a quality option.
You know, in America, there is a saying you get what you pay for. Not with Magic Jack. You pay and THEY get.. your money. Lots of profit off nonreturnable products that simply don't work!
Sad company and no recourse. I hope they sleep at night, knowing how they treat people that can not afford to do better~

jack has not worked right since i got it, cant find any contact # ,
we purchased a magicjack to try at our home. I own a small business and my home # is also my business #. Since we installed the magicjack I have had no phone service. Anytime someone calls in or I call out its so distorted you cant hear anything. I tried to get customer service but have been unable to even get any help from any one unless I pay 38.00 to have a question answered. There is no phone # to be found to call and spesk to any one about whats happening. I decided to go with another phone carrier and now magicjack is telling me that the only way to port my # to the company i have chosen is if i pay 32.50 to have the number ported. I am so dissatisfied with magicjack . My business has suffered due to the fact that the magicjack hasnt worked like they advertiseed it would. I think magicjack is a serious rip off to a lot of people and they should be ashamed of their selfs. I hope and pray that I never run my business in the manner in which they have. If they arent even willing to provide a customer service # they shouldnt sell the product. Magicjack is a ripoff and I suggest anyone thinking about using magicjack not to get wrapped up in their mess.

order ripoff
I ordered one magicjack! I was billed for two plus other expenses that were unforeseen which totaled $171.
I tried to use their customer service which is nonexistent!
You are either waiting for there response or told to click on to a web page that is nonexistent!
I haven't even had a chance to use their product and I am already tired of magicjack's NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!
This company has no respect for its customer!

Tech Support and Product
Product simply does not work. Was with their "tech" support for 3 hours. After trying and trying, I asked for a refund. I was asked "May I know why is the refund for?" (I didn't type that in wrong).
Come on... This product is in Beta at the very best. For the price, I didn't expect the best technical support, but I did have an expectation that the product would work. which it doesn't. Stay away...

lack of numbers
Just got my magicjack today. Call quality excellent, features excellent. The Issue, I live on Whidbey island in the 360 area code. That is in the northwestern corner of the state. How many 360 areas are covered? 1 that is over 3 1/2 hours from my home in Longview. There fore all locals calling me would have to call longdistance. My housemates are adding a landline to our new house so thats ok for the locals to call. So I try to get a number in longview. No numbers available. Ok so try Seattle. No numbers available. Finally has to settle on bainbridge island to even get a number within 100 miles.
If it wasn't for the landline my BF could not call me.. it's f-n ridiculous.
