I went to pay my groceries last week with my credit card, and it was declined. The minute I got home, I went to my computer to go online to check my bank account info. Come to find out, on the 25th of OCT 2009, four charges were made one right after the other in the wee hours of the morning. The total was 352.00 on my credit card which I have set at 500.00 a month so I dont over spend. My account was overdrawn and I hd several charges from the bank for being over the limit. I had received a few new letters from this company, but had not taken the time to read them as I assunned it was spam. I took their email address and tried to contact them to see why they had placed charges on my account without my authorization. Nedless to say, they never answered my enquiery. I went to my bank and cancelled my credit card and the funds were credited at once after I filled out the report. Yesterday, I went to check my email, and there were three identical computer generated letters sent to me stating that my card had rejected their attempts to gain fund for some monthly subscription... Again, the times wer at 2:03am, 2:05 am, and 2:45am for three of the same charges I saw on my bank statement in Oct.
I buy a lot of books online, but this company is not one of my normal providers. They had my credit card information, my email, and even my mailing address. I am in Panama, but receive my mail at Mailbox ETC., based out of Miami, Fla. I am fortunate to have gotten my credit card credited for the charges, but someone else may not be as lucky... Be wise when you make a purchase on line... Others may be accessing your personal information, and you wont even know it until they have taken your money.
