Ripped by Make My Trip
Dear Makemytrip fellows,

I was a Makemytrip fan till about last year. I have booked several trips in the past and got good service for the same.
For some reason this year things changed for the worse ... and i mean it ...
I booked 2 separate trips this year:

Trip 1: Banglore/ Delhi - Agra/ Banglore (MMT Reference ID: IN1103B03261)
This trip was booked for my collegues who after hearing all the good thing about MMT from me, decided to book a leisure
trip with them. The plan was to fly from Bangalore to Delhi and then visit Taj Mahal on Friday. The entire trip was planned
by Mr Himanshu Suthar (who i had worked with in the past). On reaching Delhi on Friday they were told that Taj Mahal is closed
for tourists on Fridays. They ended up booking a hotel in Agra for the over night stay cause they were to leave back for US the day after.
The Hotel in Delhi refused to refund the money for the 2 nights stay that was alerady paid to them via MMT. This was a major goofup by MMT. They were stranded for 2-3 hours at the hotel reception not knowing what to do before a MMT representative got in touch with them. On contacting MMT they acknowledged that it was their mistake but said they could not do anything about it and merely apologized. I was also told later by my collegues that they will continously harrassed by the Taxi Cab guy (booked through MMT) to pay him more money. One of the female collegue who had to be dropped at the Delhi airport at 12:00 AM to catch her flight back to US was taken to a secluded gas station and asked for more money, which was really scary. With so many people from my company visiting India, has things gone well, MMT could have earned a lot of business, but i guess they are happier saving petty money by cheating customers.

Unfortunately i do not have the booking id for this one.
Before my above expereince with MMT, i booked a vacation package to Europe for me and my wife named "Eurpoean Dream". We booked our own air tickets and paid an initial booking amount of INR 30, 000 for the same. I wasnt really sure if i will be able to make it for the trip due to visa limitations but was convinced by the MMT agent to give into it since they were running some special that would expire soon. I was also verbally assured that incase of any cancellations it might be difficult to refund the amount but it can definitely be adjusted for any trip at a later date with MMT. Unfortunately due to some problems with the Visa/ last minute travel changes we were forced to backout from the trip. We immediately contacted MMT (~1.5 months before the planned departure date) and told them about our situation, unfortunately they said they could do nothing about it and that we should forget the INR 30, 000 we paid for the booking. We tried escalating the issue through several people in MMT (Also contacted the HO in Gurgaon). We were assured that this would be looked into, but after repeated calls, there was no response. Finally the agent who booked the ticked said we could only refund INR 5000 (Not sure which mathematical model he used to derive the magic number). We were very flexible and did not want the refund, but just that we could use the money to book another trip via MMT (But even that seems to be unreasonable for MMT). Its a pain to see your hard earned money go down the drain due to someone elses fault.
Please be very careful in booking your trip (especially those abroad) via MMT as they might sound cheap with all the fancy deals they falunt on their website, but in the end you really get what you pay for ... Really poor customer service/ satisfaction ...

MMT could have got a lot of business from us ... but i guess they are happier being penny wise and pound foolish .. good for them ...

Awfull experience with MMT Reference ID 110701-022045
Below are the complaint details mentioned which were put forth to make my trip complaints forum on 01 July, 2011, still we haven't received any revert for the same.

Myself and my husband had planned our honeymoon to Malaysia - Langkawi, KL, & Genting from 20.06.2011 to 28.06.2011. The bookings were done from Bangalore office through Ms. Priyanka. We paid the trip fee as well as handed over our passports and other required documents to Mumbai office to Mr. Ritesh Soni. The service from Mumbai office was very well taken care off although a major MIS-COMMUNICATION between the two locations bangalore and mumbai led to a huge controversy, which was ridiculous. We were called time and again to submit the documents, to collect our payment receipts. Also, in between we received an email from Ms.Charu Rampal stating that she would henceforth be taking care of our booking from the Delhi office. Initially, the hotels which were requested to be booked were not given to us. Hotel Pearl International, which is in outskirts of KL was booked instead of repeatedly asking for a hotel in the main city near bukit bintang. Similarly with Hotel Awana in Genting, wherein we asked for a hotel within the Genting indoor vicinity, Hotel Highlands / Hotel First World / Hotel Maxims to be booked. After conversing with Ms.Ritika in Delhi office for more than an hour, we got Hotel Renaissance in KL, however she didn't give us a better hotel in Genting. This was the first part of the complaint, the second and most important part comes in now, when we actually flew to Malaysia.
Complaints stated below:
1. After checking in to Hotel Holiday Villa, when we asked for our breakfast coupons, the receptionist refused stating that its not included in our package. Then we had to rush out to buy a local sim card to call up India and speak to your executive. We spoke to Ms. Priyanka and asked her to sort everything and call us back. After half and hour we received a call from Mr. Rakesh stating that he had communicated with the reservations department in Holiday Villa and we will get the breakfast coupons. However, immediately after his call, we called up the reception/ reservation desk to check for our breakfast coupons, they still refused stating that its not included in our package. We had to again ring up Mr.Rakesh asking for the name whom he had spoken to, but he said he didn't recollect, although confirmed to us that he has sent an email to the reservations department stating our breakfast to be included in the package. This time we had to walk up to the reception to confirm the status. Luckily, after so much of struggle, we got a confirmation from the hotel that breakfast is included in our package and all we need to do is give the restaurant people our room number.
2. We landed at the KL International Airport, wherein we met Ms Janu from Red Apple who gave us the itenary envelope which had the check-in / check-out, our half day tour details. She also gave us the outdoor theme park tickets for genting. Here, in our itenary given by make my trip states the tickets for both indoor as well as outdoor theme park, however given to us was only outdoor theme park. For this, she told us to communicate directly with Mr.Das. On our way to Hotel Renaissance, we spoke to Mr. Das, wherein he asked us to hand over the outdoor theme park tickets to the driver Mr.Raj. and we'll be getting our theme park tickets for both the indoor and outdoor when we'll check out from Hotel Renaissance, the driver will have the tickets with him.
3. Now, on the 26.06.2011, we were waiting in the lobby area at 11.55 am for the cab to pick us up and drop us at Hotel Awana in Genting. After sometime, around 12.10 pm, when we didn't find anyone from Red Apple to pick us, we called up Mr. Das, but his mobile was unavailable. Then we called up Ms.Janu, she asked us to call up Ms.Lin, inturn we got so annoyed that we had to tell her to ring up Ms.Lin, tell her the whole story that nobody has come to pick us up from hotel and call us back. After 10 minutes, we received a call from Ms.Lin, who told us that our check out time was 9.30 am instead of 12.00 pm. Now, the itenary which was given by Ms.Janu & the itenary given by make my trip clearly stated check out at 12.00 pm, however, Ms.Lin was absolutely rude in saying that we're lying to her and the check out time was 9.30 and not 12.00. Also, somebody had come from Red Apple at 9.30 am to pick us and he couldn't find us anywhere in the hotel area. We were having our breakfast at 9.30 am. We also checked up with the hotel reception if somebody had come asking for us, the receptionist confirmed that nobody had come to ask for us. After repeated arguments Ms.Lin disconnected our call stating that somebody else will call up to assist us. Now after 15 minutes, Mr Rakesh called us explaining 26.06.2011 being a sunday, he cannot arrange for our transport, so we need to hire a cab and go on our own, which was absolutely unprofessional and unethical & at the same time very annoying. First of all, it wasn't our mistake and on top of it you ask us to pay for which we don't have any assurance of getting a reimbursement !! This was truly ridiculous and unacceptable to us. After a heated conversation, when we had already wasted our 2 hours, we didn't want to waste our time further, so we took a cab. Here also, the cab asked us 180 RM. We actually had to go out on the roads to ask for a cheaper cab who would give us the receipt. After struggling for 15 minutes in the rain, we got one cab for 100RM. After reaching Awana, we got our indoor and outdoor theme park tickets.
4. Next day, again, when we were to travel back to India, Mr. Rakesh called us up stating that our check out time is 12.00pm, however driver will come to pick us at 4.00pm. We were asked to roam around in the area for 4 hours !! I mean, is this a joke ?? Is this the way you treat your clients after taking the money from them ?? This is absolutely unprofessional behavior and not acceptable at all. I'll make sure that the word is spread to as many people I know, and this time you guys have really tested the power of MEDIA, so just wait and watch for the consequences. I will make sure that I get the whole amount being paid to make my trip, back to us. Make sure the complaints department is in action and the reimbursement team is also in place, otherwise another claim of mental harassment and torture will be put on to you.
I have no complaints from the mumbai office though because Ritesh was of help to us and he did his best in whatever way he could.
But to count the names Ms. Priyanka, Ms. Charu Rampal, & Ms. Ritika are on the list. I want my money back which we paid to make my trip (the whole amount) i.e INR 1, 17, 000 + INR 75, 000 for the mental harassment which was given to us before we actually approach the complaints forum and the court to file a suit.

refund money
I shashi Bhushan Garg had booked two tickets for vaishno devi trip on 4th june at make my trip. But after charging full amount of Rs. 3360 per ticket from my account they cancelled my tickets and now they are not returning my money back. I tried a lot. I called many times in make my trip for refund but no result came.

Please help me to get my money back.

Dont trust Make My Trip
This was the first time we booked tickets from Make My Trip . We were issued paper tickets where it was clearly written refundable on the ticket. And they send a mail saying the ticket being non refundable. What does it mean? Why is the money becoming nonrefundable in mail whereas the paper ticket has a printed assurance that its REFUNDABLE. Later, we cancelled the tickets online with Lufthansa. Make my trip claimed that the tickets were nonrefundable. We asked for a change in itinerary and were even ready to pay the extra price of the current value of the ticket, but these clever people charged double that what direct lufthansa was offering at that time, as freshly issued tickets. Lufthansa said 2000+something per person for a fresh ticket and Make My Trip said they have 4000+something per person for the existing tickets. Hearing the price offered by Make my trip we had to say we coudnt afford it and finally went with direct purchase from lufthansa. So you see how they made a huge profit firstly by debating on the non refundable issue they managed to keep the price we paid for the earlier tickets and secondly, by stating an exorbitent high price for current tickets they managed to escape ... They have a few extremely talented salesman who will keep debating unless you are tired of calling and talking out the same thing over and over, everytime stating the problem from scratch. Finally being tired of talking to them, we sank on the couch, thinking what to do and how to manage another pair of fresh tickets. Because by then we had understood what Make My Trip was up to. THEY ARE VERY GOOD AT ONE THING. PLAY WITH WORDS, BLAME THE OTHER PARTY AND KEEP ASKING THE CUSTOMER TO CALL BACK AFTER SOMETIME, WITH THE ASSURANCE THAT THEY WILL SOLVE IT THIS TIME. ALL LIES.

Stay away from Make My Trip
I bought 2 tickets by AIR INDIA.The flt was cancelled due to volcanic ash.Make my trip sold me 2 more tkts on Virgin airlines for departure on 18/5/2010 at a much higher price.I was told that full refund of AIR INDIA tkt amounting to Rs 72168 would be credited to my credit card account within 7 days .They also assured me that I had no role to play Make my trip would do the needful with AIR INDIA and that FULL refund would be creditrd to my account since the cancellation of the flt was due to volcanic ash. I HAVE MADE numerous calls to Make my trip who now inform me that AIR INDIA has shown me as a NO SHOW passenger.I am amazed at the ignorance of Make my trip as any involuntary cancellation is entitled to a FULL refund.

Since Make my trip is areputable travel agency the matter should be sorted out by them as they were acting as my agents and knew fully well that I travelled by Virgin air on 18/5/2010 to London. This amounts to deficiency of service. Make my trip instead of getting me compensation are trying to levy cancellation charges.

I booked a trip to India via Make My Trip (MMT), it involved a change of 3 flights. I had to cancel that booking but intended to use it within expiration period of 6 months, moved to another city but still planned to go back to previous city just to utilize the tckt. So, I was going to take 4 flights to get to India and another 3 while returning. But I was willing to do that to avoid mental trauma of talking with MMT (previous experiences had already left a bitter taste) However, few days later, my health got really worse and because the path to recovery is a long process, I asked for a refund based on my health documents. For 3-4 weeks they refused saying I wasn't hospitalized so I wasn't eligible. Then I was asked to talk with their person in NYC, he showed his concerns but then for good 3 weeks assured me I'll get a refund check ASAP. Then he backed out saying the airlines will instead give me a direct tckt to India so I don't have to travel 4 flights. He assured me that it is MMT's responsibility if things go wrong. I called several times on their toll free #s, each time a different reply with a patent "I apologize for the inconvenience, someone will get back to you within an hour/few hours" but that never happened. On the last day of the ticket expiration date, here I am writing the review. The mental trauma of dealing with these guys, losing your money- it's not good. IF I had known I won't get my money back or a new tckt, irrespective fo my health, I'd try to travel- it'd be a headache for the co-passengers and airlines to look after me, who cares! I was trying to be a good citizen by not bothering people around me. Anyways, I've lost my money, time, energy and lot of sleep waiting nights for their calls. I've voice recordings of all convos, their stupid/insensitive idea of searching who my dad is, including his professional work ID in our email convos when I never told them to do so (and my dad doesn't work there anymore but the company was still scanning his emails so imagine a woman's embarrassment that her dad's ex-coworkers know of her personal health issues) So anyways, taking this matter to the court now. I'm sure they're used to going to the court, being a big co, will have the resources but still, I don't mind doing everything I can to reach out to public and tell them to stay away from these rogues. Their exec tells me "you can email us your feedback on this ID" I'm like, who writes to OSama saying "you killed too many people, here is my feedback for the damage you caused in my life" Seriously????

money not refunded

I wanted to booked a ticket of jet airways from hyderabad to guwahati which is scheduled to depart on Tue, 27 Jul '10 (09:20) .So I did it on 09-03-10 .
but after entering my card details the web page redirected to a page which was not respoding.but when I checked my balance I came to know that the money has been deducted from my account & I didnt get any ticket.I already experienced the same problem before so I waited for it.But unfortunately the money is still not refunded.

Refund of Air Tickets
In March 2009 I booked airtickets (Mumbai - SFO) through Make my trip. In Nov Delta cancelled their flight sto Mumbai. Make my trip was informed by the airlines of this change but they never bothered informing us. Upon calling Delta Airlines in CA we were told to apply for a refund. Couple of months later we realised that Delta had processed the refund & sent it to Make my Trip as the booking was made through them.

Make my Trip never bothered contacting us even at this point. 2 months have passed but they have not contacted us or refunded the money.

I have called them repeatedly and each time I am told that someone from India team would call me back.
I have also emailed them with all details (The amount refunded by Delta, Their refund reference, Date of refund, etc) But nobody is responding to my calls or emails. They just don't care- they claim 24/7 customer service but that is only when you want to book. When the time to refund comes they vanish.

Make my Trip owes me INR 24, 000 and no calls/emails. They cheat customers from US very easily .
They have made their money by duping honest customers & fraudulantly not sending their refunds.

With such bad service I will never ever book through them. Such companies should be sued & forced to pay a penalty for such pathetic service

no refund granted for rail booking even after hundreds of mails and phone calls
Hi All,

I had tried to book a ticket from ALD to NDLS from MakeMyTrip.com but twice the process got stuck at the payments page and I had to drop the idea of booking the ticket from this site. When I checked my account I was deducted for both the transactions although no ticket was booked. My transaction IDs were RAL6000778986 and RAL6000778854. After 3-4 days I got the refund for one of them. But the other one is still pending although I have made hundreds of emails and phone calls to them and every time I am given the assurance 'Sir this time please wait 48 working hours and you will surely get a reply or a refund' but I always find my inbox waiting for their email. On being asked I have also mailed them the bank account statement 4 times to them but every now and then they say sir please mail it again the attachment isn't opening here. I am fed up with their service as they pay no heed to customer service and don't even give a reply. Please someone solve this yaar...

Refund of Cancelled Ticket
This is regarding my bus ticket booked through Makemytrip.com, on 13/04/10, booking ID is BUS50009116130367.I cancelled this ticket on 13th of april itself, that is before 24 hrs of journey (journey date 14th of April, 10) & supposed to get a refund of Rs. 825. As I was told, it should be done within 7 days but it still not refunded by them. Whenever I call to their customer service, I get the same reply that wait for 48 hours.I've got the same reply for 4 times.Whenever I drop a mail to them, I never get any response.

Please mark my words.They are the biggest frauds. The latest excuse given by them was that there was some problem from vendor side.Earlier they said that there is some technical glitch. They will never refund your money if you cancel the ticket. Why should I bother about the vendor problem, if I paid the money to you. While deducting the payment, there was no problem at all.

If anyone from MMT is looking at it...just respond...what is the meaning of 7 days for you...& why the money is not yet refunded.
