After having considered many schools in Toronto to learn makeup, I decided to visit Kavita as I had heard good things about her. I called her and scheduled sometime to go in and meet with her. I was kind of surprised that the location was small and was not the environment of a school (there were people being serviced for spa services that are in and out). I discussed prices, class schedules and other details about the course, including course content and was told that due to the small size of class I would get individual attention which I cannot get at a makeup school. I agreed with this as it made sense. I enroled in her makeup class and was very disappointed as our class kept getting interrupted with phone calls and people walking in. I was also not sure of some of the techniques that were being taught as I have previous experience in being a makeup artist (from back home) and when I questioned techniques, I was told this is how it is done to get the best results. The methods were not new age and there were no sanitization steps taught. Overall, I was not happy for a course that was overpriced in the first place. When I asked for a refund, that was also denied with no proper reason.
Since then I have started classes with complecions and am very happy! I would say, that stay away from individual people who are teaching classes and go to a proper school. There are lots of people who claim to teach and know what they are doing who are operating out of crammed units and even home basements. Stay away from them. They are overpriced and do not have the skills to lead in todays industry.
