Manoj Benjamin Royal Indian Raj Sued by Gary Sheffield - Major League Baseball Star
Kudos to Gary Sheffield for being the 1st Major League Baseball Player to have the balls to step up to the legal plate to face the weak-armed “pitchmen†from the “bull†pen of Royal Indian Raj.
After investing a total of ½ million dollars with Royal Indian Raj International Corporation ( RIRIC ), in 2003 and 2005 and seeing none of the promised returns on his investment, Gary Sheffield filed a lawsuit against the corporation on September 10th, 2010 with the 13th judicial court in Hillsborough Florida. Sheffield alleges in his complaint that RIRIC and its CEO Manoj Benjamin, and President Collins Benjamin conspired with others to perpetrate a ponzi scheme under the guise of raising funds to build real estate projects worth $3 billion. Among the hundreds of investors are numerous Major League Baseball Players as well as hundreds of real estate customers, who, it is alleged, were collectively bilked out of approximately $16Million.
In the lawsuit Sheffield accuses RIRIC, Manoj Benjamin, Collins Benjamin and several of their business associates and lawyers of: Fraud, Breach of Contract, Conspiracy, Negligent Misrepresentation and Unjust Enrichment. The allegations stem from 2 separate purchases of RIRIC shares; 33, 334 in 2003 and an additional 33, 334 shares in 2005. The funds were to be used to promote Royal Garden Villas and Resort, a luxury villa gated community in North Bangalore India situated close to the new Bangalore Airport, yet the Royal Garden Villas and Resort failed to even break ground despite years of repeated promises to begin the project. Mysteriously the Benjamins found all kinds of time to bask in the intoxicating glow of opulent lifestyles fueled by luxury cars, a Georgia Street penthouse, personal real estate portfolios, extravagant travels and shopping sprees.
Gary Sheffield’s lawsuit filing follows on the heels of a 22-plaintiff international lawsuit launched by furious real estate customers on April 26th, 2010 against Royal Indian Raj, Manoj Benjamin, Collins Benjamin, Ravi Benjamin and wife Sherri Vaters, Maya Benjamin, Anjula Benjamin and other former members of the RIRIC management team.
