On June 21, 2005 I purcased over 7 thousand dollars worth of Windows for my home in Middletown, New York from Mark Four Enterprises, Inc. Fairfield New Jersey License No. Lo43705 - Rockland County New York. License No. H-A6-01269-00-00, a Sears Home Central Authorized Contractor. Sears Home Central is a Division of Sears Roebuck and Company Chicargo, Illinois, that called me silicting this home improvement project. They set up the appointment with their authorized contractor named above. I received a life time warranty on my purchase backed by Sear. However, when I incountered a promlem with the Hermetic seal on one of my windows I filed a claim for replacement under the warranty on September 18, 2009. I was told that I would have to pay $150.00 to remove and replace the defective window. My warranty states that the Manufacturer will assume 100% of the repair or repacement cost. Since Sears backs their authorized contractor and Manufacturer of the windows, with their National corparate reputation, and I have already paid for the product and installation they backed. I feel that Sears is responsible to replace the defective window at no cost to me. The removal and reinstallation of the defective window consist of taking out the bottom double hung window by releasing the side latches on the window and taking it out of the sash it is replaced in the same manner. Something that is done every time the window is cleaned and requires no special skill or tools to do. I could do the job myself if Sears ships the window to their store or parts department in Middletown, New York and it would only cost them a shipping charge of under $150.00. Sears is not honoring the warranty by charging me a fee to repace a defective product which they back. It is my opinion that if you need any windows for your home do not go to Sears Home Central they are not reputable.
