Marmalade is a thoroughly unscrupulous mobile phone sales company that sells for the network 3. I am dealing with the complaint on behalf of my 78 year old father-in-law who was missold this mobile phone contract over the phone.
Marmalade contact you directly using vague language to suggest they are connected with your current service provider (my father-in-law is on T-mobile) and trap unsuspecting or not savvy consumers into a 'verbal contract' over the phone. They then send the phone out and make it extremely difficult for consumers to return the phone - my father-in-law tried on several occasions.
Attempts to resolve the misunderstanding amicably are met with aggressive and obtuse 'customer service' reps who are clearly programmed to make life extremely difficult for any unhappy consumer.
I am currently awaiting a court summons to resolve this matter as Marmalade's attempts at resolving this stretch to sending round the debt collectors.
A very opportunistic and unsavoury organisation - I wouldn't be surprised if their sales efforts are deliberately targeted towards the elderly or vulnerable.
