Magazines SCAM
Young woman came to my door soliciting magazines to support a softball team trip to Hawaii. Said she lived around the corner. All a big SCAM. Claimed they'd donate magazines to service men, etc.

Ripoff
I am fairly new to my neighborhood.
A young man came to my door collecting money for magazines and told me a percentage of the proceeds would go to an organization to help the troops. He also mentioned how some of my neighbors and also given very large amounts of money to help this organization. After writing a small check I found out this organization is a total scam. Hope this helps others if someone shows up at their door.

door to door scam
I was scammed by "Coast to Coast Sales Marquis Fulfillment Agency"
I purchased a magazine in May 2010 to help the young guys fundraiser
Nov. 2010 no magazine, no refund, no return calls.
It's terrible this company continues to get away with dishonest business.

Magazine Scam
Young man came to my door and began telling me how he lived around the corner of my neighborhood and was raising money for a soccer trip to Mexico for the finals or something. He said his name was Winston and was studying broadcasting in college, and was very polite and talkative. He was selling magaizines to raise points for the trip he said, and that I could help him raise points buy buying a subscription for either the military overseas or a couple of other charity org's. I being prior military thought it would be nice to send something overseas to our guys/gals...I wrote him a check for 37.00 which would cover 2yrs of the subscription and wished him good luck. Literally 2 days later I seen a segment on our local news about this very scam, using the same bogus soccer team (didin't exist) and the same name (Winston). I called my bank and cencelled the check (32.00 fee), which I will be disputing that soon.

FRAUD
So today at approximately at 2:35 pm. A nice energetic guy named Austin Wyan came to our door. He was wearing black tennis shoes and baggy clothes. After we opened the door the guy was already asking questions for his "survey". He would ask all my little sisters favorite things to do. Then he would ask, "If you had a $1000 what would you do, spend it or save it?" My sister of course said bank it. Then the guy who was apparently named Austin Wyan said he would spend it on cigarettes, weed, and beer. Right then I knew that something about this guy wasnt right. Soon after what he said he invited himself in, asking for a bottled water. My sister of course agreed and gave him a water. The guy was very likable and a huge flirt. He asked us personal questions like are you rich, how much is your house worth, and what car do you drive. We never gave him an answer and i told him to leave. He wouldnt leave unless i paid him. So i told him i would buy only one. but he said i have to buy two because my sister took the survey.
When my sister took the survey he never said i had to buy a magazine. He said he gets points to go to paris if he brings in the survey. Then he said i have to pay for a magazine which goes to him. So after 2 minutes, he said just write out a check. I dont give my checks out to random people so i gave him cash. In all i spent near $100 to this scum bag. so after the exchange i told him to leave. He wouldnt. He asked to go to the bathroom and then he will leave. After he was done he went outside and stood in our front door smoking a cigarette. He was not a typical salesman. So BEWARE of all the solicitors... and DO NOT I repeat DO NOT ORDER ANY MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTIONS FROM THESE PEOPLE.
