Was promised 3-4 Days for our Cabinets to get refinished. Finally after 3.5 weeks, Its completed. Left a Major mess for us to clean up and re-paint.
I received 3 estimates from 3 different companies, for the work we were wanting done to our Kitchen Cabintry. When Mr. Pendleton of Master Interiors came to our home, he was very professional, and very knowledgeable about what we were wanting done, so we decided to go with that company. It wasn't the cheapest nor the most expensive, but we felt comfortable with his knowledge, and thought they would do a good job.
Our project had a start date of March 30th. We had been to their office to pick out colors before hand, so They were aware of what color we were wanting. When they showed up to our house, they showed up with 2 people I have not seen before, and Mr. Pendleton stated to them, what they would be doing there. Sylvestor (the contractor) had no idea what the project entailed. So I had to explain what color I wanted. That day when I got home from work, they had taken all my drawers and doors down, and provided me with one of my drawers to show me the color, it wasnt what I wanted, so they had to take it back and re-do it again, so the next day I got home and they showed me another sample, this was more like it.. So They actually started working on my house the 1st of April. When We got home from work on the 1st, There was no tarp or plastic up, and it looked like they had sanded some areas, and even started to stain some. My husband and I spent 2.5 hours cleaning up the dust that was all over my living room, dining area and Kitchen. The Next day When we got home, which was friday the 2nd, They had mostly everything stained, and some even had the clear polyurathaine on it. I cant even describe what the cabintry looked like at this point, there was 3 tone colors etc... I had called Sylvestor and told him to come back over So I can show him a few things. When He arrived, I showed him that the stain was just not applied in an even coat, He explained, because he was working with a hand-circled sander (as big as your palm) that he could not get certain areas and those areas will look like that as the finished product. He rubbed the stain on the cabintry with a towel, and then went over it with the towel dipped in paint thinner. It was an absolute mess! My husband decided to call Mr. Pendleton and show him what was going on.. In his own words he said it "looked like crap"... and they would get us a solution quickly.
Saturday the 3rd came around, and mid-afternoon Mr. Pendleton came by to show us one of Our Cabintry doors and what it should look like. They color was perfect and you could actually see the wood grain again in the door. He explained the Sylvestor did not sand the cabintry as mush as it needed and applied the stain too early. Monday the 5th, We came home, and they had put some plastic up to help with the dust, and they got working on the sanding the cabintry down again. A Couple Days of this went by. I believe my Husband got a phone call from Mr. Pendleton wanting to come by on saturday the 10th to finish up our work. That never happened, when I called him, he said they already changed direction and would not be able to finish up on Saturday. So We waited.
Monday the 12th, At this point, I was furious, being without a kitchen for 2 weeks is not a walk in the park. Now I spoke to Gary (Owner of the Company)and he explained that he would not be able to come back out to finish our project until Thursday the 15th, Mind you today is Monday the 12th.. He said they were still working on the doors and drawers and that he needed time to finish.. They have had those since march 30th, and Obviously they didnt do anything to them. So Thursday came around April 15th, and When I got home everything looked finished. They got some stain on my wall, they tried to touch it up but the paint they used was the wrong color. When I went in their office Sat April 24th to pay them I asked Mr. Pendleton when they would be back out to finish my walls, he simplyed smiled and walked away! I paid $1617 for this job.
