Married Men
I met Jeff on match.com in November of 2008 and had a 4 month relationship with him while he was living in Washington, DC (Georgetown to be exact). He was here for a training class for his job for 9 months for ICAF. I was under the impression that I was the only person he was dating. Little did I know that he had a wife back in Germany. Now, I never knew this all of the time we dated. This man also told me he slept with two women before me, when he was in D.C. Jeff ended our relationship when he told me he was too stressed, didn't have the proper amount of time for me, and didn't want a girlfriend at that time. He also told me he would be moving away soon and didn't know where he was moving to.
I think it is crazy that all of these married men make it onto Match.com! There should be a way to verify marital status. Ladies, beware of this man - Jeffrey Robert Schott.

6 month Guarantee Rip-Off
After my 6 month subscription expired, I called match.com and was told that I didn't email at least 5 people a month. I didn't find 5 people a month I was interested in on match.com. Seriously, I thought the idea was to be matched. I could randomly email 5 people a month and save my money. Why didn't I see any criteria for this guarantee until I called match.com? To be fair, match.com could program a status update or something to let me know I was expected to email undesirable persons. How cruel. In other words, email 5 loosers a month and lead them on just to get a free 6 months, even if they aren't interesting. No thanks.

Poor Ethics and Morals
I joined Match.com and subscribed for 1 month. If Match.com was a reputable company, they would do the honorable thing and cancel a person's subscription after the one month period ends. This is not the case. Match.com does not cancel your subscription but continues to bill you month after month until you manually go into your account and cancel it yourself.
After being billed for a second month, I called up customer service and explained to them that I only signed up for 1 month and did not wish to be billed for another month. I continued to ask that my money from the second month be credited to my bank account. They told me that they have no way of keeping track of how long a person has been active for and it was in the terms of my contract before signing up. Therefore, they cannot refund my money for the second month.
Being the largest dating site in world, one would think Match.com has enough money to hire a computer programmer to write up some code that keeps track of this and sends out an email after 30 days (or however long a person signs up for) that contains a link that directs you to opting to cancel your subscription. It sounds to me like the technology is readily available, but it would be more profitable to the company if they keep this message hidden in the terms of the contract.
I am also looking in the Pros and Cons underneath the "Share Your Opinion" section. The 3rd con from the bottom reads "Cost to Much." It should be spelled "too." The sixth con reads "May Be A Bit Overhelming." Maybe if you payed a bit more attention to the details of your website, people would want to remain active members so you wouldn't have to come up with ways to scam them out of their money. It is overWhelming to me how the management of Match.com operate. It would be a great idea for them to take a class in ethics.
Match.com is run by a group of greedy and immoral people and highly recommend avoiding this website at all costs.

Unauthorised payments
Having subscribed for a 1 month subscription to match.com I was horrified to see that they had been continuing to take payments from my account without authorisation.
When I contacted them to get a refund for these unauthorised payments they told me that it was in the terms and conditions that payments would be taken until I had contacted them to cancel the subscription.
Longer term subscriptions are available at different rates, 1 month was the shortest period and was the most expensive. But it is clear that it is just for ONE MONTH, not an infinite subscription at that rate!
Having looked through the 6 pages of terms and conditions it is still very unclear and totally misleading.
I have consulted with trading standards and will be making furhter complaint, I have contacted the bank aswell to prevent further payments being taken.

Scam
Match.com will not monitor and control profiles online. There are many misrepresentations on match.com and there are more and more profiles that are fake. One of my friends wrote to a guy for 3 months and he turned out to be a female in prison! Be careful! I have another friend that met a guy that claims he is 45 years old with 1 child. This profile name: glassisfull999 is NOT 45 years old! Steve is going to be 49 years old and has 3 children! He again misrepresents himself on match.com. This is NOT fair to women looking for specific criteria in what they hope to meet. I know many women in my age group of 35-45 that is not interested in wasting their time with a man that is over the age of 45 years. This man is going to be 50 soon and it is totally not fair to single women on match.com. I would hope that match.com would consider changing and monitoring profiles. Please consider!

Stealing Money
I joined match.com for 3 months and when I went to cancel they offered me a special of 3 months for the price of 1 month to stay as a member, so I decided that I would give it another try. I did not have good luck the first time, but thought that perhaps my life circumstances were preventing me from using their services and would give it another shot. Just before my next 3 months were over, I logged into my account that I had not been using because of time constraints and other factors to cancel once again. I had another offer of staying for 3 more months for the price of 1 month and declined this time know that I did not want to be a member even if they paid me to be one. I was very diligent about making sure that this cancelation went through as I have had 2 other girlfriends get raked over the coals by them in the past and had hundreds of dollars deducted from their accounts due to forgetting to cancel. They tried to get their money back as they were both in serious relationships and did not know of the policy that they were going to automatically renew if they did not physically go into their account and cancel themselves. The company is so shady that not only did they neglect to process my cancelation when I asked them to do so, they proceeded to take $50.98 out of my bank account that I was slowing starting to close and had very limited funds in it. I got a notice from my bank for an overdraft and I was furious as I have never ever in my entire 35 years on this earth bounced a check or had to use overdraft protection. I called match.com and did get my $50.98 but after numerous calls numerous times, they refused to issue me a check for the $22 my bank charged me. I am very upset at the fact that match.com is scamming people out of their hard earned money. If I were on a very strict budget and needed that $22, then I could have had other financial difficulties paying my bills. Match.com has become so greedy that they cannot even pay for trying to scam me out of my money. The said “it was a technical glitch in the system and had happened to others”. They refused to give me the overdraft fee from my bank and told me to call my bank and ask them to remove it. It is not fair that I had to spend my time calling them numerous times waiting on hold for long periods of time and talking to their incompetent employees let alone pick up the phone one more time and tell my bank that I was requesting they pay for match.com being a scammer. Please beware before signing up with match.com. They need to do some serious quality control and get a grip on reality when they are the ones that made the “mistake”. Then think of all of the people that don’t notice the glitch or just suck up the fees for lack of time or other reasons. Match.com is scamming people and they need to stop. Beware. Don’t use their services. They will try and rob your money any way they can.
