Taking money
Hi
It is far easier to join and pay money to Match.com than to cancel the subscription. And if you do not cancel they charge you MORE money. There is no 'contact us' or 'cancellation of membership. on their website. From the hundreds of complaints when you enter Match.com complaints and look at the websites they have taken £1, 000's of pounds people wish they had not taken, many without first notification of further payments to be taken like mine, which is against Unfair Trading Practices Act of 1999.
Is there not a 'Body' that can control Match.com.
Advice - IF YOU CANT CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP, MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER so they cant rob any more money from you, like as I am doing now.

Renewal without notification
Hi
I have emailed Match.com to ask them to stop sending me email so I should no longer be a member,
but emails still keep coming, in fact I am getting even more introductions than before.

Their conditions state that they can take another subscription in 6 months time UNLESS YOU CANCEL FIRST.

Ask yourself -
Is there a membership cancellation button on Match.com site?                                                        No
Is there a contact email on Match.com site?                                                                                           No
Do they ask you if you still wish to continue your membership                                                           No
Do they notify you that they are going to take another subscription                                                    No
What happens if you do not cancel your membership                                                                          They charge another subscription
What should you do to stop this                                                                                                                 Change your credit card number
What happens when you ask them to stop sending emails                                                                 Nothing
Would you find any Match.com complaints on Google                                                                           Many - many about payments taken.

What does Consumer direct say?
With regards to the trader' failure to provide you with adequate notification of the renewal, you may be able to argue that this term is unfair under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 (UTCCRs), which protect consumers against unfair terms in contracts that you enter into with trader.

They do not care and will not help
This is the 2nd time I have been on match.com and I swear it will be my last, it has been the worse...I started my 3 mos subscription on May 27th, 2009, I was quickly charged $59.97...One of my first encounters was with a man who claimed he was a jeweler starting a new business 12 minutes from my home, he turned out to be a Scammer asking for money working out of Ghana..I also encountered 6 other scammers, 3 other men straight out asking for explicit sex...so what did I pay for..on July 5th I received an email stating my 3mos would soon be up and if I wanted to renew just ignore this email and my credit card would be automatically charged and if I did not, please cancel no so that my card would not be charged on August 27. I canceled, I received an email stating that my credit card would absolutely not be charged, on August 29th, I noticed on my Bank statement a charge from match.com for $59.97...There lame explanation is that I did not have the right to use the website until August 27th, that if I canceled in July I should have never gone back on, I reactivated it...I asked why they sent the email stating I was ok...same lame answer repeatedly..oh and try to get a US person on the Phone forget it...Everyone is in the Dominican..no offense..so if you can get thru the scammers and the credit card fraud, Good luck, but if you dont want to deal with their Fraudulent ways I suggest you cancel your credit card the minute after the first charge hits if you ever want to cancel, they keep charging even when you tell them no, and forget about getting back Bank FEEs...they dont care and will not help...noreason ever to go back on..thats my code name.

It won't let Me log in
I tried and tried and tried to log on to match .com and it won't let me after I had given them my credit card number. It isn't after the the 3 days for free and I can't get any help from a person. I went to the help area which told me that I was probably entering the wrong password but when I answered the right questions and it sent me an email it gave me the same password that I was typing in. Tried to go back in to redo my membership to make sure it wasn't a mistake I made and it just won't work. HELP! This company should have better customer service that this.

Private Profile "Magically" Become Public
Months ago I set my Match.com profile to Private. I did not want to be seen by anyone. After a long absence from the site I logged in only to discover that my profile had magically become public. How many people viewed my profile against my wishes? I changed my profile to private, confirmed that it was private and then updated my profile, removing items and deselecting choices (by setting them to "no preference") just in case my profile magically became public once again. Just prior to logging off I checked my profile and sure enough, it had been set back to public. For the second time I set it private and sent them an email requesting that my account be deleted. As far as I can tell, there is no user action available to delete your account. Pretty sleazy.

can't unsubscribe
I have been trying to unsubscribe from match.com almost the day after I subscribed to it. There isn't a place to unsubscribe and the websites they gave me to unsubscribe do not work. It should be illegal for people to be forced to remain on their website and they should not give false information about how to unsubscribe.

I have their name in my junk mail but I still receive mail every day. This complaint is on principle of freedom to not be intimidated by a website. HELP GET ME OFF!

taken from a man i met for $6,000 who was not who he claimed to be...
I met a man on match.com who claimed he was from McHenry, the same as me, was an Industrail Engineer in England, and was there due to work related issues. About 2 weeks into meetiung him, he claimed he needed money to acces his bank loan that had been pre-approved at $750, 000. He had a Indian man working for him, that died on his site, and he needed to settle out of court, per his attorney, to make things right for this very poor family. He claimed he owed them$450, 000. He needed $30, 000 to pay fees to the bank, so he could acces the money to pay the family, and then come home to me..He was down to needing $5, 000. I said I did't have it...But he wouldn't take that for an answer. He said I was his last hope, and his olny hope left. If it were not for having met me, he would probably be dead...I reluctantly sent him $2, 500. And then after selling off jewelery and wiping out my saving account, I came up with $1, 750. He said at that point he had enough money to get home. After not hearing from him for a few days..He called me saying they took the $ 1750, and they were holding him in India...This was after he supposedly attended the deceased funeral.. Then a freind lent me $1000, which I sent hime too..
After that, he never came home, but was now threatening me and my family with harm, if I didn't send him more money..
I contacted my local police at this point and they said because it was Niageria, they could do nothing...I changed my bank account, because I given the information to him so he could supposedly deposit $30, 000 into my bank account. I also changed my home phone number and also my cell. And I also changed my e-mail, and blocked him from my yahoo account. I have not heard from himsince, so I am pretty sure he has moved onto his next victim...Is there anything I can do to get my money back...It was sent Western Union through a Currency Exchange...

Scammers
I was on match.com for a few months and found a possible scammer reported it and called again to see if they had any information about this profile I had reported and said they weren't allowed to say, I asked for a refund or at least a partial, match.com said no since I have been on this site too long. I have to say I was most displeased with match.com out of a few other dating sites I have been on, match.com is the worst, I met a few yahoos and most contact I had made most do not respond.

Scam charges
I subscribed for 1 month with match.com. The company has a policy of automatically renewing your subscription and charging your bank account without notifying you. This rips off the consumer who should be protected from companies that deliberately set out to deceive consumers. A 1 month subscription should be exactly that.
