Uninformed termination of account
I had been a member of the site, Match.com for more than 2 years at least. On the 5th of October, i made a payment of a one month subscription and was happily using the site, updating my profiles and pictures. On the 6th of October, I couldn't log in anymore and was advised to contact Customer Care.

Customer Care informed me that I have violated the Terms and Conditions listed on their website and due to the "nature of the violation", they would not communicate with me anymore. All without giving me an explanation and offering a refund. I have since sent emails to follow up to ensure that I get my refund back. Still awaiting their response.

I am outraged as I went through the Terms and Conditions and felt that I have not violated them in anyway. By refusing to provide me an explanation, I am considering that Match.com has terminated my account on an uninformed basis, denying me of my right to paid services. Prior to the termination, I even received emails that my updated profile and pictures were approved. I am especially enraged by their dismissive attitude. I assure you that my profile is perfectly legitimate (no, I didn't solicit in any manner) and honest-t0-boot.

Deceptive emails to make you subscribe
Match.com just sent me an email, saying that certain guys had sent me an email. Of course, none of those guys had sent me an email. Match had sent me the email by error - I had recently subscribed, and could see that none of those guys on the email had sent me an email.

It is rather a nasty thing of Match.com to engage in such a practice.

Fraud
I closed my account with Match.com almost 3 years ago (after I met my wife) and asked that they remove my profile.
They have not removed it and it still appears active even though I have not logged-in for years. However, women are still trying to contact me through them (or so they claim in emails they keep sending me). These women must feel bad because it would appear to them that I ignore/reject them. But the fact is that I cannot see nor respond to them without paying Match.com...
My wife does not appreciate having my profile and photo on Match.com. Nor do I, and I am sure that the women who are fooled by it do not appreciate it either.

By keeping my profile active against my will they make it seem that they have more selection than they actually do. This is fraud.

Attempts to contact them to remove the profile were ignored repeatedly.

Unauthorized charge
Today I got an email from PayPal notifying me of a charge of $59.95 done by match.com
I did not authorized this charge. About three months ago I opened and account but I remember signing up for a 1 time charge. Today I called match.com and they said that they could not refund the money but that they could offer me a 30% discount on my membership. I said I wanted a refund, the guy still said he could not do it, but the only thing he could do was to cancel my recurring charges. I was really angry and told him I would report this and asked him for a cancellation number. He said he could not give me any but that he would send me an email with the cancellation number. It turned out that at the end he issued a refund. This company will try to do everything to rip you off, but if you fight back they will issue the refund. I also called PayPal to cancel every agreement of recurring billing, to my surprise I had 3!!! So, watch out for match.com they will try to rip you!!

Charges
Today is Sept. 9, 2009

On Sept. 6, 2009, I was charged on my Visa account $101.94 by WMV*Match.com. I had no idea what that charge was. I called my credit card company and they contacted WMV*Match.com. TI was told this is the corporate site for Match.com. I had signed up 3/6/09 on Match.com only because they offered the promotion " Sign up for 6 months and if you don't find someone, get 6 months free."

However, according to the customer service person I spoke with, you HAVE to keep your profie posted with photo for 6 months AND send 5 emails monthly. What?????? I didn't have that many men I was interested in to send 5 emails monthly. Match.com said I would still have to pay the new charge even if I took my profile down! What???? I replied that I was NOT paying for 6 more months of their service if I couldn't find anyone, when I understood I was to receive 6 months free. Then they said they would "PRORATE" my membership for this month at a cost of approx. $34. I said I'd pay for 3 days: 9/6. 9/7, and 9/8 - and no more. The next step was to put me on hold while Match.com rep spoke with a manager. They came back and said as a "one time complimentary" service they would refund the $101.94 charge and my profile would be removed. The credit would take several days.

Lesson learned: Be sure to read the fine print even if you have to research for it. If it sounds too good to be true, then is probably is a scam . . .

Unauthorized/Unverified Charge
I went online to cancel my regular one month membership of $39.99 a month, and on the cancellation screen one of the questions asked for the reason for my cancellation. After the checking the box stating that the site was too expensive, a follow up section appeared, asking if I would stay with Match if the price were cheaper. I thought that was an overall good idea, still fully intending to cancel my service and pressing the "Continue Cancellation" button. Lo and behold, the screen flashed once quickly and then again, finally resting on a page that said I had been given a 3month membership for the price of one! I had not verified this charge at all but it immediately posted to my checking account! Needless to say, I became even more incensed when they emailed me, congratulating me on my renewal and advising me that to get a refund, I have to send a certified letter with return receipt within 3 business day!! I have to spend more money to get back the money i never okay'd them to take...

Don't go to Match.com. They only want your money and have shown themselves to have questionable business practices.

Abused Subscriber
Match.com does not disclose which members can read emails and which ones can't. As a paying subscriber I waste a lot of time reading profiles and sending emails to people who are not paying subscribers and can not open the email that I send to them. Match.com does this hoping that the non paying members who receive an email will then become a paying subscriber. In others words Match.com is using there paying subscribers to entice non paying subscribers to become paying subscribers so that they can read the email that they receive.

fraud, bogus profiles
I have been a member of Match for about 2 and 1/2 yrs. This week I wrote to them asking how someone can request contact with a subscriber without viewing their profile. Within about 15 minutes I had 8 new winks, total of 12 that day. More than I have gotten in a month. All were from out of state, all profiles were no longer available. One was from NY, while doing a random search I saw the same picture here in MI. Same picture, totally different profiles. I believe these to be bogus profiles, printed both. Someone sitting at Match.com patronizing me. I have requested a full refund for this 3 month membership, haven't heard back from them.
