I recently visited mattress depo usa, even after reading many poor reviews online. I was in the market for a NEW mattress and was introduced to their own line which is produced by Paramount out of Oregon. I found one I like and emphasized with the salesman I do not want a used mattress. (Even their web sight has a disclaimer stating 'factory seconds could be comfort returns from dissatisfied customers).
He assured me I would have a new mattress, and even offered it to me right out of the gate at 100$ lower than the previous salesman in the same stores BEST price. He also showed me the new mattress and stated I could tell it was new because it had the Blue striped interior bag that it was wrapped in. He said he would pull it off the floor, mark it and have it delivered.
I asked him what they did with the comfort returns for Paramount, to which he replied, 'we discount them and put them on that wall over there'. Today the mattress arrived, no blue striped bag and a poor tape job on the cheap after market bag it was in. I questioned the driver and he stated they never, ever sell used mattresses.
I informed him of their web sight and he immediately called the store and told me they would go to Everett and get me one in a blue bag and be back that evening. I noticed an empty mattress bag on the floor of the truck with a blue liner and said no, Ill get my money back. Without so much as a peep I was refunded when I returned and I don't think we exchanged more than 20 words.
Beware when shopping at M-D usa and read up on them, it's seems to be all true. Used is used, 1 day or 30, and that seems to be their specialty.
