I am so sick of hearing about Maurice Sendak and Where the Wild things Are as an example of how wonderful he is regarding children.Our experience was completely different.When my granddaughter died of leukemia her mother wrote a book of Phots showing the things that a child with leukemia experienced.It was written for childen to know that other children went through the same experiences and to make it less scary.My daughter asked permission to include pictures from "Little Bear" since it was her favorite book and beloved by young children.His assistant responded on his behalf saying that he did not his characters associated with sick childrenWell who was going to see it BUT sick children.The book has since been published and distributed through Lamplighters is English and Spanish to hospitals all over the country.Isn't it too bad this man who LOVES children couldn't love sick children as well.
