Poor service
MAVIS TIRE (3434 State St. Schenectady NY) who would think getting 4 tires put on would be such an ordeal. Set up an appointment online so we wouldn't have to wait. Yea right.. Took 4 hours to put on 4 tires and replace a passenger side inner tie rod end plus alignment. The tires were NOT balanced CORRECTLY. They put weights (not small weights)on the exact opposite sides of each other. They inflated all 4 tires to 35 psi when it calls for 44 psi and payed no attention to linning up the dot on the tire in accordance with the valve stem. They said that doesn't matter.. well they put that dot there for a reason and it matters to us...

grease and oil change
PLEASE, PLEASE READ!!!I brought my car into the Mount Kisco Mavis for a simple grease and oil change. They kept me waiting for two hours(this was with a reservation) When the car was finally done...the manager tells me I have something wrong with the my front right caliper. Oh, and by the way my car was driving beautifully when I originally brought it there. Also, before I even went to Mavis I had three routine checks on the brakes and tires(in the last three months)when I was having some other work done on my car. There were absolutly NO problems with the calipers or brakes ect!!! BUT NOW, (just two minutes after leaving Mavis's lot) my ABS brake light is on. This light has NEVER been on since I've had this car for the last seven years. I immediatly went home and spoke to my regular machanic and he said it sounds like they CUT A WIRE !!! The manager was also anxious at the time to give me a real low ball price so I would get it done RIGHT AWAY. Since this experiance with Mavis I'm now in the process of contacting my local and state agencies to file a complaint in an attempt to allert other consumers of their fraudlent practices. I will also attempt to collect on whatever expences I will incur due to the extent of damage they did by cutting the wires / part they broke intentially. This is a WARNING!!! DO NOT USE MAVIS IN MOUNT KISCO!!! I hope I can get the word out to as many people as possible!!! I should have listened to all the rumors I was hearing about them. But, I figured it was just rumors. OVIOUSLY NOT!!!

It is just a bunch of young, inexperienced, untrained people that are working on your car
I purchased 3 new tires from Mavis in NY before driving back to my home in Montana. Within 24 hours the front left tire was low. I suspected they did not mount it correctly. Since I was traveling across the US, I stopped once or twice a day and put air in it. When I arrived home I took the rim and tire to my local Pro Tire and they told me that whoever had mounted the new tire cracked my rim and it could not be repaired.

When I contacted the Peekskill store, I was transferred three different times before reaching the manager who told me that it was my “misfortune” for not still being in NY where they could see the rim. I asked for an email address to send the pictures to and was directed to “Mavis.com” which by the way, was not an email address and their message system does not allow pictures to be attached to messages.

I took pictures and sent them to the District office after speaking to a District Manager (?). A man by the name of Joel took my compliant, but insisted that they did nothing wrong. (I had also taken the rim and tire to another company locally, Tire Rama, and they also told me that the damage was done by whom ever mounted the tire). Joel was rude, abrupt, unprofessional, down right hostile, and would not let me speak on the phone.

He interrupted me, spoke over me, and mocked me like I was an idiot. He kept saying the rim was rusted (I even know that aluminum rims don’t rust) and pitted. I live on a red dirt road and I did not clean the rim before taking the picture so that he could see the fresh, new damaged marks on it for himself. There are long scratches, hammer marks and bent spots along the edge from the tech trying to “fix” the damage he did.

When I brought the car in the bad tire was holding air just fine and I didn’t encounter a problem with it until after they mounted the new tire. These people ruined an Infinity rim for my car and refuse to repair or replace it. Now I can not drive my car until I find a new or used rim. I am still trying to see what I can do about them replacing or repairing my rim. Don’t ever trust them with your car.

It is just a bunch of young, inexperienced, untrained people that are working on your car. What’s worse, the fact that they are so rude and pompous to believe that people will continue to do business with them even after episodes like this. In these economic times they should be trying to get or keep customers, not chase them away.

Left Stranded
I had a slow leak in my rear back tire. The tire was still under warranty so i took it to Mavis to get it looked at. I was planning to go away over the weekend, so while I was there I had an oil change also. I mentioned to the guy that I was going away, could he also check the tire pressure in all the tires and the brakes. the did the oil change and replaced the tire at a reasonable price. When I went to leave my truck would not drive. The engine would rev but not move foward, then when it did catch it would jerk foward then just rev again. The guy got in and just tried to put it in drive and reverse a few times then stated it seemed my transmission was blown. I was obviously extremely upset, he then proceeded to tell me that all they did was change the tire and the oil and that it was not their problem, that I should call the 800 number in the morning. All three of the grown men then proceeded to close the shop and leave me (a young woman) alone in the parking lot at 9pm at night. No one asked if i had a ride, needed the phone, nothing. Just turned off the lights and said make sure you lock your doors. I sat there for 30 mins waiting for a ride. When I tried to call the 800 number, a woman answered and when i got 2 sentences into explaining what had happened she interuptted me and said she couldnt help me "at all" and that i should call back later. She had a very nasty attitude and was really rude. She wouldnt even take a message, even though she was the receptionist. I am having my truck towed to another shop to find out exactly what they did. these people dont care about anyone and don't know what they are doing.

Criminals
Mavis Discount Tire is a ripoff and they lie to steal your money!! Do NOT do business with them! I had a tire checked by a mechanic since it had a very slow leak in one tire on my car. He put the tire in a tub of water and saw a slow leak from a nail in the tread. My mechanic was leaving on vacation and said he does not fix tires for leaks. So I went to a local Mavis Discount Tire store to get it fixed. The criminals at Mavis told me it would cost only $20 to plug the nail hole in the tread. Two hours later I was billed $180 because they lie and said there was a hole in the sidewall of that tire but another tire had a nail hole in it. They said they sidewall of the tire cannot be plugged so they had to replace the tire and patch the other one. I had to pay the bill to get my car back from these crooks. Then when I paid they made me sign the receipt for the work with some disclaimer to release any liabilty against them - or else they would not give me back my car even though I paid them after they ripped me off!!! STAY AWAY FROM THE CRIMINALS AT MAVIS DISCOUNT TIRE!!!

Balance & Alignment
I brought my car to Mavis Discount Tire for a 4 wheel balance and rotation, May 22, 2010.
I was offered a special for $ 29.99 which included an alignment check.
After the alignment check was done I was informed that the car needed an alignment. I agreed to the alignment at an additional cost of $ 69.99
unless the bolts were tight it would be an additional $ 10.00.
After the work was completed I was charged $ 29.99 plus $ 69.99 plus tax for a total of 108.20. I returned the car to Mavis Discount Tire May 27, 2010 and informed the manager that the steering wheel still vibrated and the car still pulled. The rebalanced the 4 wheels and determined that the alignment had to be redone, the technician rebalanced the 4 wheels and advised me that he was unable to redo the alignment as the bolts were to tight, but he would try to do the alignment anyway. The car was now worse than it was when originally taken to Mavis Discount Tire May 22, 2010. I was given a full refund of the $ 108.20.
This was all done by credit card.
The technician road tested the car and was in agreement with now that the car still had the vibration and still pulled.
The left front door on my car was damaged at Mavis Discount Tire and the
corporate office is sending me a DVD.

The technician advised that I needed an alignment so I asked the asst. manager
how much this would cost. He told me that the cost would be $ 69.99 unless the
bolts were very tight then it would be an additional $ 10.00 for a toal of $ 79.99.
I agreed and they proceeded to do the alignment.Cost was $ 29.99 plus $ 69.99
plus tax totaling $ 108.60. I put is amount on my credit card.
On May 27, 2010 I returned to Mavis Discount Tire and advised that the

Up Selling
Don't sign anything ask lots of questions get truthful answers. If you don't you'll get the screwing of your life at Mavis Discount Tires and trust me you won't enjoy it. <br />
I visisted the store and speced a set of tires for my car. I got a price quote. I called a day later to confirmed they had the tires in inventory, they did so I scheduled an appointment again confirming the price was "all included" Tires stems wheel balancing, taxes and tire recycling charges, and again they confirmed the quote. When I arrived to get the tires installed the up sell began in ernst first it was a $60.00 alignment (which I didn't need), then because my car was a GM model and had tire pressure sensors there was a $5.00 a tire charge for re-sealing the valves. At this point I had enough, it was clear they were not going to honor their price quote. So I suggested they could put the tire back in inventory or some where else where the sun doesn't shine (if you get my meaning) and left the building. Typical scum-bags they called and want to know what they could do to earn my business. Nothing, with this business model you won't be around long enough to earn my business. Wake up you jerks, Americans are sick and tired of this kind of crap. Stop screwing customers and just maybe you can do some business.

VERY CROOKED BUSINESS
I went to Mavis Discount Tires on 2/08/2010.I wanted to get two brand new tires on the front of my vechile because my front tires were very worn, and I decided they had a good price for buying the tires and mounting them.My car was in perfect working condition and i had been driving it for about one year and my father had drove it a couple years before me.They asked if i would like an alignment and I declined. When I got there I gave them my keys and they said they would be done in about 20 min.I went to the nearby price chopper just to kill some time and i recieved a phone call from mavis. They stated that they couldnt do an alignment because a tie-rod loose.I stated that I did not ask for an alignment and they said I did and they ask what would I like to do about the situation.I said I just wanted my tires and that i would be there in a min.I rush over worried because I immediatly knew that they were trying to scam me.They were done my the time I got there and gave me my keys and the invoice to sign.I signed the invoice document in a rush because i wanted to get to my car and see what was done.I looked at my car and couldnt see anything visual that could have been done to my car and my new tires were on so i thought everything was fine.I started driving and not even 5 min. past by and i felt my car trembling. My wheel had some how turn sideways and my car was sliding and i couldnt stop.I was a second away from getting hit by a truck but the truck had stopped in time.Later on when I called Mavis they had told me that they told me the tie-rod was really bad and the car was not safe to drive, and that it stated that on the invoice paperwork which i didnt look at until it was to late.I know for a fact that they rigged my car which could have potentially killed me or someone else in a nearby vechile. These people are rude and only out for money so watch out for this crooked business. They just wanted more money so they rigged my car so I could pay them to fix what they damaged.
