Max Assistance is a locksmith (serrurerie) that advertises on those little "Numéros Utiles" flyers that everyone in Paris gets in their mailbox. I was locked out of my apartment the other day and called them to find out what their price on opening a door was. 59 euros to open a door they said, and I found that reasonable. When I got their bill, I found out that their real price was much different.
Here is the itemized receipt:
- Déplacement (getting to my apartment): 40 Euros
- Ouverture (opening door): 59 Euros
- Main Oeuvre (labor): 60 Euros
- 50% surcharge for after 7 pm: 80 Euros
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Total: 239 Euros!!! (Before 20% tax!)
I do not understand how this pricing structure could have ever let anyone pay only 59 euros for opening a door, since even if you bring the door to them the "labor" fee is 60 euros!
I refused to pay that much and they scratched the labor fee, which reduced the post-7pm surcharge.
Total advertised: 59 euros
Total paid: 150 euros
Totally disgusted.
