Horrible products!
In the last two years I have purchased a Maytag washer, dryer, & dishwasher. I also bought extended warranties. These products have all been repaired!!! I did not extend the dishwasher warranty this time & yes the handle broke$63.00 plus cost of a repairman. I wish I could trade them all in and buy another brand. Every time I go into an appliance store I will make a point to go by these products and warn anyone looking at them to spit on them and never buy them. At least I can save someone else's hard earned money.

Horrible company!
MAYTAG IS A HORRIBLE COMPANY!! On July 28, 2004, I purchased a Maytag Neptune Top Load Washing Machine, Model No. FAV6800AWW for $999.00. Today, February 29, 2008, the washing machine is WORTHLESS! After one or two washes where the load balance sensor kept tripping and turning the machine off we had an authorized Maytag repairman come to fix the machine. He advised that the washer drum, clutch and balance sensor had to be replaced at a cost $822.00. The repairman also advised that it was not worth fixing and to throw it away. He further advised that they have received a lot of calls regarding problems with the Maytag Neptune Washer and that he has seen the same problems over and over when the machines reach an age of approximately four years. The repairman stated that since I purchased the machine Maytag has changed the major parts at least twice making the parts hard to find and very expensive.
I contacted Maytag with the naïve hope that they would stand behind their product. What a fool I was. When I spoke with the first customer service representative she advised that there were no “quality control” issues with the model. She also implied that the repairman was lying about problems with Maytag Neptune and that repair technicians often lie about quality control issues during service calls. However, she was sympathetic to my problem and made the generous offer of a 10% discount on the purchase of a new Maytag product. I advised that it was unacceptable and asked to speak with a supervisor. A few minutes later she advised the supervisor was on the other line and increased the offer to 15% discount. Given the age of the washing machine I asked for a 50% discount and was cheerfully declined. I spoke with Maytag Supervisor of Customer Service Ryan Tibbett. I explained why the repair was too costly and asked that they send someone out to repair the machine for a reasonable price; $100 to $200). Mr. Ryan explained that Maytag does not have repair people (so much for the lonely Maytag repairman) and would have to contract with a private company and the cost would be no different for him. As an alternative, I asked that he make arrangements to send replacement and I would pay to have them installed. Mr. Ryan advised that it was not possible for Maytag to provide the parts. I told Mr. Ryan that after our last washing machine (not a Maytag) which lasted from 1990 to 2004 failed we thought we were buying a top-of-the-line washing machine, which was one of the most expensive washers on the market. I asked Mr. Ryan if Maytag was going to stand behind their product. Mr. Ryan advised that Maytag does stand behind their product for 1 year. Mr. Ryan then explained about the one year warranty. When I express my dissatisfaction with the results, Mr. Ryan told me that nothing I say will change the outcome, an offer of 15% discount on a new Maytag product. I asked if I could speak to his supervisor and he said no that there is no one else in the company that I could speak to. I asked if he could speak to Maytag Corporate Headquarters on my behalf and he advised me that he was a representative from Headquarters and the 15% discount was a Headquarters decision. I told Mr. Ryan that I would be making complaints regarding his product and he again told me “nothing will change the outcome”.
So hear I am making the first of many complaints about Maytag. Long story short: DO NOT BUY MAYTAG – HORRIBLE PRODUCTS – HORRIBLE COMPANY!!
Based on the complaints I have read about the Neptune Dryer is sounds as though my dryer’s days are also numbered.

French Door ice maker
We have had a Maytag french door refrigerator for about 17 months. We have only had problems. They have put on new ice maker. They have checked the shut off value. They have put on new filter. Now we are having 3 sided pieces of ice. When you don't have ice, you have to take the tray out and hit the bar in back to break up the ice. This is stopping it from making anymore ice. The ice maker was replaceed under warranty. Now they are saying it is valve and that is expensive. They are trying to come up with price. I have called Whirlpool at 1-800-253-1301 since they now own Magtag and filled a claim. They show no record of the ice maker being replaced or when we bought the refrigerator. I have contacted another store to try to get help. They have a person that used to work for them and he is very good with refrigeators. He has started his own company. We have little water coming out of the front since we got it. He suggested to get a new filter. Sometimes they can be bad. We have water softner, so we don't have hard water. We got a new 40.00 filter and the problem is solved for now. We have water and ice cubes again. Yeah

Maytag French Door Refrigerator
I purchased a new Maytag French Door Refrigerator in September of 2006. On December 31, 2007 the ice-maker/temperature control panel/water dispenser...started flashing and the ice dispenser started opening and closing on it's own. The noise from the ice dispenser was so loud that even with our bedroom door closed we could still hear it all night long.
I called Conn's where we purchased the fridge but they refused to help us other then sending out a repair person....at our expense. So, I called Maytag and they advised me that since my warranty had expired all they could do is give me a number that I could call for service....at our expense.
I explained to the rep at Maytag that I had been on the internet and read some really terrible comments about this and other Maytag products. After much insistance the Maytag rep, who was familiar with my problem and agreed that they had gotten many complaints on the same issue, agreed to cover this problem by sending me the part and setting up a service call with a tech so that the part may be replaced. The tech should be at my home on 1/10/2008. The rep also agreed to extend my warranty through 11/8/2008.
It was a good thing that she extended my warranty because, in the meantime, last night I get home from work and my fridge is not cooling. I placed a temperature gauge in the fridge and this morning it was 55 degrees in the fridge.
I called Maytag again and they agreed to cover this as well. They provided the name and number to the company that will be sending out the tech and transferred me to them so that I could let them know what the fridge is doing now so that they may arrange for the tech to address this problem as well.
I have my old side-by-side refrigerator (it is 15 years old) in my garage for drinks and other items that do not fit in my, almost $3000 "new" refridgerator....that is now not working. I've never had any problems with the old fridge, not one single service call! When I purchased this Maytag, again for almost $3000, I certainly thought it would last as long, if not longer, then my old fridge. And then, there's the issue of all the food gone bad in my Maytag French Door Fridge. We live a good 30 miles from the nearest grocery store and therefore make sure to have plenty of everything we need on stock in the fridge. I'll be cleaning out the fridge and throwing everything out when I get home from work today.
I can only hope that Maytag keeps their word and actually takes care of the present problems with the new fridge. My main concern is, what happens when the new warranty runs out on 11/8/2008. I am terrified because of all the bad things I am reading about the Maytag appliances.

Customer Service
On December 23, 2007 my Maytag dishwasher caught fire. I was preparing food for a Christmas party and discovered smoke and flames shooting out of the top portion of the door. I kicked the table out of the way of the flames and ran to cut the power.
12/24/07 I contacted Maytag who told me that they would have to send a service man out to verify my claim and to see if the unit could be fixed. They scheduled me for 12/28/07.
The serviceman arrived and verified that the unit had cought fire in the control board and that he had never seen anything like it. He also stated that it would take 25 parts to fix the unit at a cost of $900.00. He contacted his supervisor who told him that Maytag made a concession and would fix the unit for free. (unit is 4 years old). The service man stated that all parts would be shipped to me and I should contact the service dept prior to the scheduled date (1/8/08) to verify that all parts were here.
To date, 1/4/08, no parts have arrived. I have contacted Maytag and asked to have my unit replaced and they stated that I should be thankful that they agreed to fix it for free as the extended warranty I purchased expired last year.
I am very upset with the treatment I have received. Maytag stated that my worry for what could have happened is unfounded as the circuit breaker would have tripped. They do not care that I had to cancel a Christmas Party and throw away food because my kitchen had filled with black plastic smoke.
Never again will I purchase a Maytag!!

bad service
What happened to good ole customer service? I just placed a call to A & E Factory Service only to be snickered at by the rep (Victor) with every question I asked. Needless to say, making that call was a total waste of my time and he could have just as well told me to take a hike the second he answered the phone.

3 bad appliances
I have 4 Maytag Products all purchased within the last 4 years and I have already had to have service on 3 of them. My stove still is not right. My dryer went out before it was even 1 year old and now my dishwasher which was purchased in June of 2005 and installed in August 2005. It has CHEAP plastic parts and now will cost me 160.86 to repair because, has the repair man put it, Maytag sets the price for labor. I remember the days when the commercials for Maytag were of Mayteg repair men doing nothing and now I have had to have 3 of my 4 Maytag appliances repair all before they were 4 years old. I am discusted and will NEVER buy a Maytag appliance again. I tried to get satisfaction from the people I spoke with on the phone and they were only willing to pay for the parts which are around 75.00. I can not believe to repair 2 PLACTIC parts would be over 240.00 to fix on a dishwasher LESS than 3 years old. I have NEVER felt so ripped off in my life and will NEVER buy another Maytag product.
I truly feel that Maytag's merge is the worst thing you could have done. Maytag used to be such an excellent product and now I have had to have 3 of my 4 Brand New Maytag appliances that I purchased for my new home repair before they were 4 years old... shame on you for selling such inferior plastic crap !!! I have been married 21 years and have always had Maytag appliances... but NEVER again !!!!

People need to give out model numbers!
I am so sick of people complaining about their Maytag washer or dryer without giving out the model numbers of the appliance. It's difficult enough having to weed out all of the frustration these people have and then have to read their minds as well as to which model they are complaining about. And for the ones complaining about the odor, why don't they try leaving the front door or top open after they use the washer. This will help evaporate any water left in the washer after the rinse cycle. Also if they would run a little bleach in the washer by itself once a month that helps as well. It's not rocket science you know... REALLY!

Ice2o refrigerator
My may tag Ice2o refrigerator control panel started blinking and the ice door flap keeps opening and closing every few seconds. I went on line, since today is labor day and no one will answer the phone to try to report this problem, Maytag's message told me to go to Whirlpool.com, which was no help at all,can you believe that?
While on line I looked up to see if other people have had this problem....there are several complaints in a row of this exact symptom which only seems to get worse over time, including ice maker malfunction to eventually having the entire fridge quit working all together, not to mention the service inadequacies! I shall return to post, as I go through what's proved to be by others a long frustrating ride.

French door fridge!
The fridge stopped cooling at just two years old. We spent a total of an hour and half on hold with Maytag trying to get parts but no one answered. We finally purchased the parts from another distributor. We replaced the control panel and it worked for all of 2 hours. For 2800 I would expect the fridge to last longer than 2 years. Oh and the water line continually freezes up!
Very poor quality product!
