Door gasket weak magnet
I have a model MFD2561HEW Maytag refrigerater, which when I close the left door the right door becomes ajar and if your not watching for it the door will stay cracked open letting out the cold air. Seems to me that the gasket magnet is not strong enough to keep the door closed. I called Maytag Dependability Plus in Jeffersonville IN. prior to scheduling any service and they tell me that the gasket is not covered under my contract. So basically I Paid $186.53 for a worthless warranty, if the equipment is defective due to poor design then I should be covered, but not in there eyes. They want to schedule a repair service which I may be responsible for, forget that. I'd buy a gasket and install it myself before paying some ripoff fee for showing up to tell me I'm not covered. Next stop Better Business Bureau.

portable dishwasher
Have a really nice Maytag Portable dishwasher that is only about 4 years old. Recently had a new kitchen faucet put in. Found out after conpletely installed that the adapter for the dishwasher does not fit the faucet. Looked through owners manual to find info. Found NO parts info. Went on line. Maytag is not responsible for its own parts. Does not handle any of that service - is done by some previously unknown third party that took hours to find. Called there and the idiot I talked to just kept quoting the 1 line of info on the ONLY adapter that Maytag has for this unit. I asked if it had any dimensions and he kept just reading the line. Get this, this one small ring adapter is $35.00 PLUS shipping AND can get no info as to whether it is going to work - He said can be returned but must use their choice of return shipping and I would have to pay for it. SO, tracked down a phone number for Maytag Customer Service, very nice (and I thought trustworthy) young woman who tried to help but consistanly ran into deadends trying to find info on the adapter for this dishwasher and according to her records there was only ONE. Was on the phone with her for about 1 hr 10 mins and then ended up she said she would have to ask someone else and call me back. NEVER got a call back - REAL Surprise - NOT!
AND, get this! The unit is still produced and for sale by Maytag. And NOT a CHEAP unit. And the girl suggested that I might be happier with a built in unit - HUH? I was actually polite enough to calmly explain to her that I had no place with plumbing in my old house to install a different unit when there was nothing wrong with the one I had EXCEPT the stupid $5.00 adapter. (cost of any of the ones at Menards that didnt fit because MAYTAG has the market on any of their adapters - they control the market of their parts) BUT NOT REALLY since they have a 3rd party who acts like they HATE doing any interactions with customers and wants to gouge both their eyes out with HUGHLY INFLATED costs for Maytag parts. There really aught to be a Consumer Protection Agency - OH WAIT - there is! But not for real problems that need real help. I now have a $700.00, 4 year old Maytag dishwasher I can not use! Maytag used to be an honorable company with quality items made by proud Iowans. Then it went to h_ll when Whirlpool bought it out and started producing junk under an honorable name. Good luck with anything Maytag (or Whirlpool) If you do, think of it as a 'disposable' appliance.

Bad service
I bought a Maytag washer and dryer front load from home depot last November. I have had major problems with it and here it is 3 months later, still under manufactor warranty and they won't fix it. Just constant promises about getting someone here to repair it. Iter the sale. I have even been in contact with the corporate office and they just keep giving me empty promises. I will never buy Maytag (Wirlpool) again or anything from home depot. Even earlier when I contactedthen they pretty much told me they have nothing to do with the product after the sale.

Food freezes in refrigerator
I've had my French Door Maytag for a little over two years. I'm constantly getting frozen food out of my crisper drawers and the back left side of the refrigerator, right under the ice maker. When we built, I bought all new appliances. I bought all Bosch but could not get a French door refrigerator in their brand. Knowing Maytags reputation, I took an extended warrenty on the refrigerator. Of coarse it ran out just before all the problems. I keep turning up the temp in the refrigerator, hopeing it will stop freezing. Anyone else have this problem and know of a solution. It's a shame, considering what this refrigerator cost. Anyone know of any recalls?

Maytag Customer Service is a joke
Today was yet another round of complains for the Maytag dishwasher, I mean another round because after 6 months of owning the dishwasher it has worked only3 weeks, oh yeah and they "fix" it just to find out that after a few days later something stops working.
Not only the customer service ladies don't put enough information on the history of their product/customers (repeating over and over the different occasion that it has failed), but they really don't care for customers time like average of 50 minutes call, and scheduling visits of 5hrs window, do they think we don't work during business days?
Is there a way to say, I don't want you product, you can keep it and let me scape from your "service" support? If so, please share the blessing and we follow. I no longer want to deal with Maytag or Whirlpool (same company).

Builds product designed to fail
I purchased two Maytag electric ovens model MEW5530DDW a little over five years ago. They are not used daily and are used together only on holidays. Within days of each other both control panels failed. They cannot be repaired and cost $350 each to replace. Clearly this product is built to fail so that Maytag can sell replacement parts. It is outrageous that there is no way to repair the control panel and that they are so expensive to replace. I will never buy another Maytag oven nor one with touch pad controls. Interestingly, the only ovens with easy to repair knobs are European models.

Terrible product
I bought a Maytag Neptune washer six years ago. I just paid a repairman $100.00 for him to tell me that it would take $700.00 to fix the thing because the bearings went out and the whole tub would have to be replaced. That was how much I originally paid for the machine! What happened to going green? Why can't manufacturers make a product that will last a reasonable time. We don't make that kind of money to just buy another appliance every year or so. I thought I was getting the best..Boy, I thought wrong. Shame on you Whirlpool!! I will never buy one of your products again. I also had one of your refrigerators!! The thing couldn't make ice no matter how many repair people came out to try and fix it. At least I had the smarts to tell them to take that sorry piece of crap out of my house!! Don't buy Whirlpool...Maytag...You will be sorry!!

Junk service
Maytag washers and dryers will burn you house down. Wiring harness will catch fire. Mine almost did. Thank God I caught it in time!!!Maytag will do nothing because the washer is two years old. I have had Maytags for 20 years without a problem. Mine was a bucket of rust after two years. Please stay away from maytag. Model MTW5740TQ Lowes stores know about the problem and will do nothing and continue to sell them!!!

Maytag service does not exist. They will try everything not to help you with your problem. The company is a joke!!! What has happen to American pride in workmanship. Time for a class action. Whirlpool bought the company and is riding on the good name of Maytag-it's just a matter of time when people will get smart and stop buying their products. The internet is full of complaints about MAYTAG JUNK.

Poor Quality-Doesn't Last
I built my house 5 1/2 years ago and had all new appliances installed. Paid to upgrade the standard refrigerator for the French Door model with the freezer on the bottom. We had issues right off the bat with the water dispenser and the ice machine. Water is fixed but gave up trying to get the ice machine to work. Today, six months after the warranty expired the compressor went out overnight on the unit and all of the food was lost. After calling Maytag and hearing there was Nothing they could do we called a "NOT SO LONELY MAYTAG REPAIRMAN" to find out that to repair it was going to cost between $750 and $1000 and that the new compressor would only be guaranteed for 30 days. Instead I wound up going out and for $1500 for an LG french door Refrigerator which has a 10 year compressor warranty.

Anyone looking at Maytag - BEWARE!!!

3 year old Refrigerator dying
My husband and I bought a Maytag stainless steel refrigerator with the bottom drawer freezer. Not even three years old and it died!!! Maytag has some nerve taunting themselves as dependable!!! I will NEVER again purchase any type of Maytag appliance again and will do everything I can to let the public know that they are wasting their money with Maytag.
