In December 2009 ITV news reporter produced a report regarding the news on an Honor killing committed by a Turkish man who murdered his daughter.
In the ITV lunch time news, the reporter stated that the suspect was a member of PKK, referring PKK as a political Turkish Nationalist Party.
However, far from that statement, the reality is that the PKK is known as an illegal and terrorist organisation, not only in Turkey but worldwide.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organisation internationally by a number of states and organizations, including the United States, United Nations, NATO and the European Union and by no means the PKK is a political party, and in fact 80% of Kurdish community did not vote or do not believe on the ethos of the group.
This in turn was a misrepresentation by the ITV on Turkish legal and genuine political parties by representing a Kurdish person who committed the appalling honor killing of his daughter, as a Turkish Nationalist.
I would like ITV to withdraw the statement and state the correct representation on this issue.
