Meineke Reviews

Incompetent technicians
I went to Meineke in Bremerton, WA to check if my breakpads or rotor needs to be changed because of the squeeking/annoying sound but all they did was a brakeflush which they charged me $159.00 for that( other auto shop will only charge $60.00 for breakflush).I went back and they checked my car again but to no avail the sound just got worse And now, I remember, I had a bad experience from them too while i was in Oakville, CT. Just a warning: Don't ever go to any Meineke. No offense to George Foreman.

Ruined engine
Meineke Econo Lube N' Tune #4305 installed the wrong oil filter, causing the oil to empty from my engine while I was driving, ruining my engine.

Rip off
People who are thinking of getting your repairs done here, please do your research.

They overcharge you on parts by more than 200% compared to the prices that are prevalent in the market. They will rip you off without any remorse.

A similar experience happened to me recently. The parts for My Nissan Sentra GXE were costing me about $300 elsewhere and these people charged $650. I had to get this done here knowingly since, i didn't have the way to exit from the charges they were applying to cancel the work order soon after i realized and checked else where.

Dunno know how people like these sleep peacefully by ripping people off and exploiting the situation.

Overcharged for brakeflush
I had this annoying, squeeling sound everytime i stepped on my brakes, thinking brake pads need to be changed, with my coupon in hand, went to meineke and adviced that i just need a brake flush, they charged me $ 159.00 and another $ 100.00 for a new battery.i asked if i could get a free oil changed which they agreed but they forgot to put the sticker for the next oil change date which i think they didn't really do it.

Feeling that i got ripped off when i got home, i called other auto shop and no one has charge over $90.00 for a brake flush. and the worst part? i can still hear that annoying sound. I worked hard for that money.

Awful company
We took our 2004 Hyundai Sonata to Meineke for a tune up and timing belt replacement on 7/22/2008. The vehicle was running fine prior to this. The total cost was $876.

Within a few days, we started hearing loud noises coming from the engine immediately after startup. We returned the car to Meineke several times to have this noise investigated. At one point, we left the car there overnight. The mechanics could not find the cause of the noise.

In March of 2009, the noise returned even louder while driving to work. The vehicle was returned to Meineke immediately. An inspection revealed that the bolt holding the auto tensioner had sheared off. The auto tensioner, bolt and timing belt were replaced. The total cost of this repair was $340.

In August of 2009, the same noise returned while driving from work. The car was towed to Hyundai dealer. Mechanic inspecting the car found that the auto tensioner bolt had sheared off. We explained the earlier repairs. The mechanic stated that in 25 years of working with Hyundai, he had never seen one of these bolts shear off once, let alone twice. The mechanic suspected that improper torque had been used to tighten the bolt. The timing belt, auto tensioner and water pump needed replaced, estimated cost $1085.

Meineke did offer to honor the warranty and replace the parts at another location. However, we do not believe that the Meineke mechanics are completely competent in this area of repair and we simply cannot afford to have the car out of service every six months. We would like for Meineke to do the right thing and refund our money.

tried to get me to buy alternator needed a battery
my car stalled, I pulled off Highway in a small town on a Sat in July. Only place open was Meineke (car dealer shop not open til Monday) he ran initial test found nothing - came back an hour later and tried to get me to pay $800.00 for an alternator but I would have to stay in the little hotel down the road until Tues when he could get it. Keep in mind in had a 1 week vaca and was 3/4 of the way to my destination and he knew it.

I declined and paid him the test fee of $62.00. went on Monday to the car dealer in my destination in Florida who did many tests trying to confirm what they found and could not. only needed a battery but because Meineke said alternator and the distance I was from home 1, 000 miles they took an extra 2 days to inspect things and I needed to rent a car for 3 days an expense that was NOT necessary had Meineke done there job and just given me the battery I needed.

Not real Mechanics
I have been taking my 2002 ACURA MDX to Meineke for about 2 years now... mainly to save money.
Anyway, it's been OK until recently where my car has been stalling while driving and they couldn't figure out what was wrong... It took 2 services and NOTHING improved in the problem. So... I figured it's my transmission, maybe they don't know how to fix it. Soooo I took my car to my ACURA Dealer & they said the Transmission Mounts were broken and that Meineke should have been able to find that problem. Meineke is only good for oil changes, major services should be done at an authorized dealer or mechanic.
I am upset that I lost time & money at Meineke... I should have just gone straight to the dealer.

Scam charges
I took my car to Meineke car care center at 1261 N Delsea drive Vineland NJ. where I was charged over 80 dollars for an oil change with no Filter, and a balance and rotation of my tires, or should I say UN-balance. since it was worse after they were finished. I did return today and was able to get a refund for the so called oil change, but not for all the other crappy service. According to the Meineke franchise website, it says that No experience is Necessary and I believe it now. Don't waste your time or money with this company.
