I am responding to a comment posted from an English man called Ian. In this comment it was stated that the UK government backed a campaign raised by concerned citizens which has taken off in a big way and assists the various burdens imposed on ex-service personnel. He suggested we fellow Americans follow suit or we will not be taken seriously. He then awards us 30 percent for our efforts and 30 percent for our style, content and delivery: He further stated that some might say he was being over generous. He went on to say if we continue this course of action we will be shot down in a hail of academic bullets. And most of all we need a better strategy.

Well, as one of the “unenlightened, ” I feel compelled to respond.

While I am pleased to hear that the UK citizens got ex-service personnel governmental help, this is not the UK but the United States of America, I am a retired United States Marine and we have totally different approaches. I am sure most Americans shared the same sentiment.

It would be “stupid” to think otherwise. Our Veterans suffer unnecessarily if we wait for our government to back a campaign or assist the various burdens imposed on our ex-service personnel.

However, we are almost two years into Obama’s term and the economy is still not recovering and Veteran still burden by multiple issues.

Is this all his fault?

No, but at some point he must assume ownership of it and stop blaming his predecessor and WE THE PEOPLE must present solutions rather than restate the problem.

Many Veterans and business leaders such as Jack Welch and even Warren Buffet who support Americans not relying on government for everything.

Are they stupid?

Reasonable people will disagree on reasonable issues. Many will make mistakes in an effort to be clear and accurate in gaining support for their cause. Many will be hit with academic bullets and need to change or create a better strategy. The fact that we can express our opinions without fear of retribution is what makes America a great country.
