Buy n Fly
Menars Buy n Fly points for airline tickets is a joke. You need 30000 points to get 1 ticket and they have no website to tell you this. The 30000 points would have to be close to $500000.00 spent in one year. Points have to be accumulated in one year. Guess we will be going to Lowes more.

Had a large negative impact on my life
Menards has personally had a large negative impact on my life. I am one of the "old program" contract haulers who operated a Fassi Drywall crane from 2005 until recently when changes were made to the delivery program. I was washed out with intent to replace by a Masterlift truck that Menards exclusively offers for purchase by new vendors. Menards with-held pay of 2.5 months of work totaling $18000 dollars from my company, and to this day I have not recieved a word out of them in regards to any of it. I recieved a letter of immediate termination due to my stating I would no longer haul loads for Menards. With my career apparently comeing to an abrupt close, I tried to dispute this and claim my rights in a company that would take such desperate measures to take me out. What irritates me the most is that even the folks at the store I reported to daily are lying to me, and knowing I can see that. They DON'T CARE! It is all about the bottom line at Menards, making money regardless of the cost.
It has been four and a half months since my last day of hauling. I didn't have the opportunity to work the summer to regain losses from the slow season, and not getting paid for most of last October, all of May, June, and the days of July I worked into, and not working December 16th thru March 1st (due to losing a finger at work) I left in very bad shape. I am in a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy in which I hope to regain a decent credit score one day and be forgivin of this mess I have gotten myself into. The bankruptcy is not an easy way out though! I have lost my truck and all equipment to the bank, rights of my accounts owed by Menards to the same bank, my motorcycle is gone, I have been turned down when trying to open a savings or checking account, and anybody who looks at my credit from here on out will see that big, fat bankruptcy (including employers).
I felt I had earned the trust of this company and my store. I can only speak on the behalf of myself, and other haulers. As far as employees and managers go, you may be treated on a different level than I have been. I am speaking for, and this goes out to, Haulers. This company is not to be trusted!
Any little punk who has the urge to talk nasty needs to consider himself in these other peoples positions. Some know "not much" but need to try and prove otherwise.
Here is some of the best dirt you will find on the web regarding Menards. Two and a half years later people are still posting!

Gender Discrimination
I held onto this job for a year and a half, and usually never have I let them down. But all of sudden I became pregnant over the summer and was bombarded with the symptoms, such as getting sick frequently, excessive fatigue, and acute memory loss, which all posed a major challenge for me to go to school and go to work and be on time all the time. I tried to take on a second job and was working a total of 60 or more hours a week. That shit wore me out and I had to go back down to the one job that I had before. In the month of October they told me that I had to sign a paper agreeing that I fucked up and was late. Come to find out they wrote me up for the day I had to call in because I was sick and threw up all over my clothes and had nothing else to wear since I live out of town. I had gone from just this one incident to being on grounds for termination.
Excuse me, but I thought that if a woman becomes pregnant and has trouble meeting all the demands she is entitled to certain rights by law to keep her job. It's not like I have always been this way. They fucking knew the whole time and just set me up. There's no way any of the general managers will understand my situation enough to give me another chance, because they are all men. I delt with the asshole manger this Sunday but I did get along better with the others when I worked there, but still, they are still men. Now there is no way in hell I can pay my bills and keep a roof over my head for more than a month and a half down the road unless I land another job. There's nothing but fast food restaurants and Mayo Clinic here. What do I do?

Poor service
My comments deal with the Mennards store in Minot, ND My wife and i have just completed building a new house in Williston, ND and the contractor explained that we could save money by buying the materials thru the Minot menards store. Little did we know the savings would be returned with a good share of very poor service. there are severe problems with the organization of materials to be shipped to us, the customer. Most time that we ordered something special order and tried to get the shipping department to send it with an order that the contractor had placed it took several trips and calls before the item actually made it to us. Seems the department that ordered the product does not comunicate well with the shipping department.
Next beef on my list, When we applied for the contractors credit card to pay for the building materials the card had a rediculous low limit of $7500. To buy materials for this house we had to spend 70 to $80, 000. At this low limit the card could not possibly cover all charges, so we gave the contractors ordering desk our debit card information and gave clear instructions to notify us before any charges were place so we could arrange for funds in this account. Jeff at the contractors counter did not notify us, just billed it out and created an overdraft on our account that we have had for 35 years without a blemish ever !! There was no apology for this, only excuses that he did not hear any instructions we gave.
The next problem was a A quartz countertop that was ordered. We supplied the model number for the sink for the hole to be cut. There were mistakes made by Menards or the counter manufacturer and the hole was cut for the wrong sink. To expedite this problem my wife aggreed to let Menards find the correct sink that the hole was cut for so this could be installed without waiting for a new countertop, thus saving Menards the cost of new materials and us saving time. The sink was found and The Menards employee insisted that this had to be shipped by regular ground as this was policy. I had to threaten and scream and become a real ass to get someone to get this thing sent overnight. This was not our misstake and we were treated very poorly getting this fixed. When I told them to recut the countertop if I had to wait for a sink they refused, even though it did not fit the sink I had bought for this counter and which they confirmed the right part number that we had given them. It was only after I told them that the contractor that was building for me and does several houses a year thru menards wasn't to happy about it either that they ordered this outside regular channels. It still took 4 days to get to the contractor for installation.
The latest problem is an order of Black Aluminum fence and post that was place 6 weeks ago. The material arrive in store and we were notified it was in. My wife instructed them to send it with the next truck coming this way. Did not show up, as usual. A call to the store and now the materials can't be found. Had to be reordered. 10 days later parts were delivered with another load of materials and it was stacked aside for completion of dirtwork around the yard. A contractor came to install the material and finds that 2/3 of the posts were not sent with. So here I am again with people trying to do work and Menards has let me down again. Not enough posts in stock to complete the order and the rest are on back order. I am sick to death of Menards poor comunication, records keeping and workers. I have just cancelled an order for $3000 for materials for a small garage as I don't think they can fill this order without problems.
These are not the only problems we had, but the worst ones. Very shabby place to do business. If I had bought an $80, 000 car or that much furnature the dealers would be falling all over me trying to make this right so there would be return business and a thumbs up that these guys do a great job. Not so here. The manager, Phil, has tried to late and to little to help with this but when he is not around there is no cooperation whatsoever.
As of now I am half done with the construction of my buildings at my new home. I will most likely be shopping somewhere else so I do not have these problems anymore.

Delivery
Menards treats their "contracted" delivery service like a piece of crap, even though their motto is "making the delivery service happy"...so why have so many of their "contracted" delivery services quit them. I, for one, did end up quitting because of a foul mouth manager who thought that he could tell me how to run and load my truck. If I remember correctly, if I get pulled over in the truck, it's my responsibility. Of course, I'm fighting to money that is owed to me for hauling...Then I start looking into other complaints...Oh My!!! Better Business Bureau has them rated with an F. I would love to see complaints from other previous hauling services...Hope you all got your money... I would love to know how you did it!!!

Crappy emplyee treatment
I worked at Menards for a few years in high school, as a cashier. Because I was a good worker, they started having me do computer work. But it was something that I was obviously not supposed to be doing, because the Manager (not just a head cashier) had to log into the computer for me. This became part of my expected duties, and I was not compensated for it. But when the store manager saw me doing it, he yelled at me. And so my manager told me I could only do it when the store manager wasn't around, but that I still needed to do it.
I was also expected to help cash out other cashiers at the end of their shifts. Obviously not something I was supposed to be doing.
They also reduced me to tears by screaming at me in front of customers and accusing me of helping someone steal. I had been working as "customer service" doing returns (with no benefit to me) for a while, and one day a person came to return a drill with no receipt. They only could get in store credit, and my manager signed the in store credit check due to the amount (I told him what was being returned). About 5 minutes later, the store manager came screaming at me about how could I let someone return stolen merchandise. I did not see the customer come from within the store, so I did not question his motives. There were about 10 people waiting in line at the time.
Then when had given my two week notice (I was leaving for college), they brought me into an office and showed me a clearly illegitimate check. It was a money order that had been typed over and altered and had been used as a check at my register. The amount was over $300 which meant that the check should have been initialed by a head cashier and they also would have to approve it on the register before I could have completed the transaction. However, there were no initials, and I did not remember processing the transaction. I did tell them that the head cashier regularly used my drawer to check out customers when I was on break. (They knew my passcode into the register, but when I voiced concern I was not allowed to change it.) They claimed they would be going through the video to determine if I knowingly took this falsified check. In the mean time I was fired. They never let me know what came of it.
I must say that my time there was not worth my effort!

Charged for products not received
We purchased a few thousand dollars in pavers Sept. 2009. The delivery company for Menards calls and tells us they are short by 700 pavers. The total amount for all the pavers has been charged on our card. So they deliver what is available. A week later my Husband calls Menards and the rest are available. They want to charge us again for delivering a product that THEY shorted US on. Not our problem! They will not work with us at all. We have spent literally thousands of dollars there over the years, we have no other home improvement store to go to. Manager isn't there, how convienient. Can't get a hold of Corporate, can't get a hold of credit card company, what a joke! Save Big Money, NOT! Get ripped off, YES! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, ABSOLUTELY!!!

Rebates
In May of this year Menards had a promotion going on for deck wash, after you mail the rebate in the deck wash is free Ha! Ha! It would be if they would ever acknowledge the rebate< I stopped at the store to ask them about it, nobody knows anything. Again I purchased an air mattress with a 5.00 rebate sent all the information in still no rebate, nobody to call, gave me a website to get on, nothing, I guess I have learned my lesson, I will not shop at Menards anymore, I will go to Lowes or Home Depot.
