Merchants Barter Exchange Reviews

Refuse to pay
I am a former employee of Merchants Barter Exchange, and say that it was a hostile work environment is an understatement. Threatened daily with termination, cursed at. When it came time to pay me, it was a fight to get my first paycheck, more recently the paycheck bounced, and they refuse to pay. I am only stating the facts (which I have documented proof of). The owner Steve Bolles has sent many harassing text messages to my cell phone accusing me of drugs, insulting my children, etc (again Can be documented). Please be aware of all this in making a determination of taking a sales position there. I received threats of a lawsuit if I file a wage complaint (which I did), and am currently in talks with an attorney for damages. Please be aware of Steve Bolles and Anthony Donnelly of Merchants Barter Exchange and their managerial approach. If anyone else has had problems getting paid please post your comments here.

Beware
Since others have already sounded the alarm, let me just confirm that my cousin and I paid Steve Bolles $150, 000 for an exclusive territory in Ohio "Colombus" only to discover that he already sold the same territory twice before in the last six years and due to non-payment of commissions by MBE the other two went under in less than six months. Learning this we demanded a refund. Bolles refuses to answer our calls and reply to our correspondence. To make matters worse, both my cousin and I recently discovered someone using our names applied for and received credit cards and have been buying merchandise in Scranton, Lehigh, Lancaster, and Philadelphia to the tune of almost $39, 000! These people are bad news. If you shake Steve Bolle's hand we suggest you count your fingers afterward. And don't let his charm and "born-again" Christian B.S. fool you. This guy makes Meyer Lansky look like a boy scout!

Warning. stay away
Long story short...Not only did I get ripped off for my $895 MBE "membership fee" but about 3 months after I paid this fee and filled out my "confidential" application forms, my checks started bouncing all over town, my master card bill arrived with over $8, 000 of purchases I never made, and then my wife called me in tears saying the police were on my doorstep wanting to question me about all this consumer fraud! The stress was overwhelming for our entire family. Thank God, the detective was reasonable and patient and after two hours we realized I was just one of many many people who all became victims of identity theft after joining Merchants Barter Exchange! So the $28 I saved on five gallons of house paint through bartering means absolutely nothing to me. It turned out to be the most expensive item I ever purchased. These MBE crooks belong behind bars!
