I have a loved one in the Meridean Rehab facility in Redbank who wishes to remain anonymous. My relative claims to have been sitting in her soiled undergarnments on several occasions for several hours despite having notified the nursing staff. She is currently bed ridden due to a recent injury; however quite coherent and feels that after complaining she was given several excuses such as the staff being short handed and then ignored further. The neglect has allowed me relative to develop rashes and UTI's. The facility is being compensated and should provide a service and have standards they must meet as a healthcare institution. They need to prioritize patient inssues such as sanitation and emergency medical conditions. Individuals can not recover if they develop further complications such as infections and bed ulcers due to neglect. As a student physician myself I am quite disgusted to hear that my relative has been sitting in her own feces and urine for up to 2 hours.
