Message Envy Reviews

Unethical Behavior
I was a member since the around/approx Dec 2010, and I decided to end my membership based on a few things. 1 - the staff over time made a turn for the worst, 2- the therapists were alittle too friendly - if you know what I mean, and 3 - I am a very direct person, and if someone steps out of line - I will say something. And when I did, they blamed me for all of their problems. SO needless to say here I am saying what is on my mind, hoping someone will listen. Not all Message Envy's are like this, but a few, and to me a few is enough well with these reason's not to do business with these people anymore. The management at the Wheaton, Danada location is a joke. If you speak up and say something about not being happy with a service they pretty much say it's your problem and they won't do anything about it. Instead they will make up lies saying what a terrible person you are. WTF? It doesn't matter how much money you drop in a month, they are not very loyal to their customers. They don't care about you, and when I had joined they "Susan" aka the manager, she's been their for about 5 years, since they opened, I know becuase when they first opened she was a complete jerk, which is why I stopped going in the 1st place. Anywho, I thought by now they might have changed but obviously not. Have you ever heard that saying screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me...well I guess I should have known better then to go back there a second time. And now I do. So any who, that's the back story, but yeah when I joined they, aka the manager said that they would give a print out at the end of the year and do it in such a way it made sense to the Health department, meaning if you have one of those spending accounts, well from what I know this is ligit, but now I am not so sure. When I ended my relationship with them, and it was less than nice...I was direct, and they didn't like that. So again, they tried to turn it on me, like I'm a bad person, way to pass the blame! Some people ya know, something is wrong with them. People are too frickin senstive and they need to grow some backbone. These people would never survive in the real world. lol Anywho, I am done venting. I feel better now.

Locked into contract without knowlege
My sister and I was locked into a contract w/o my knowlege..after speaking with several managers and even the manager that signed us up for the service the issue has still not been resolved. The manager that signed us up has since been terminated for signing up several members w/o telling them of the contract and how long they were locked in. So if the company sees that a manager has signed people up after specifically telling them there is no contract and terminated the manager...why is it that we are still held in these contracts??? This is bad business and I will not be referring anyone to this location. I know that none of the managers care b/c it is not affecting their pockets directly, but if enough customers cancel b/c of bad business, maybe they will loose their jobs also.

Deceptive Trade Practices
I visited Massage Envy on Saturday, June 5, 2010 to inquire about services and pricing. While there only a few seconds in walked an extremely angry woman. She kept complaining that Massage Envy promised to not bill her credit card but did. She firmly reminded the guy on staff there of what was confirmed. She then asked for the manager who I do not recall every appearing. In fact, the guy taking her verbal outrage merely wrote a number for her to call. The woman got no where and eventually stormed out.

Well, on Sunday, June 6, 2010 it was my 1:00 p.m. appointment at the same Massage Envy and I arrived 10 minutes before my 1:00 p.m. as requested by Ben who set this appointment once I said 12:30 p.m. would not work because of my church service. But upon my arrival Ben said my appointment was 12;30 p.m. I reminded him that I wrote 1:00 p.m. on my card. He had someone named Joe take me into one of the massage rooms but said it would only be an hour rather than 90 minutes. Cool as long as I am not billed for services I will not receive. Joe informed me that he could only give 60 minutes because he had been waiting for me since 12;30 p.m. I informed Joe he needed to include Ben in our conversation. Ben joined us up front saying that he would have to charge my credit card for 90 minutes whether or not I had service because I did not arrive for 12:30 p.m. I said I understood why the woman in Massage Envy yesterday was cursing and screaming. I do not have to go that route but told Ben that I was not going to pay for services not rendered. Ben concluded that no other openings that day for 90 minutes so the next available is Monday, June 7, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. I suggested to Ben that he uses those appointment cards on his counter to avoid his confusion about the customer's confirmed appointment. I announced, as I took yet another card and wrote the new appointment, to all staff and other customers present my new appointment; that no additional charges would be charged and that I would be present. Ben handed me a form to complete that he said I should return completed because it is more of a survey. I told Ben that I was there for massage therapy, not to write a dissertation. I took form with me and left.

Beware of Massage Envy, Massage Heights and any chain massage spa because they will get you with all types of games and deception. I plan to return to small, independently owned and operated massage therapy specialists. They do not deceive but provide quality service without the hassles and tricks to rip you off.

Liars and thiefs
I am a member at massage envy. Needless to say I won't be continueing my membership when it's over. I strongly dislike this massage place they lied and charged my credit card without my consent/authorization. That is illegal but of course it's my word against theirs. Don't give them your credit card number!
