I went past their store yesterday at 1:25 to look for some screws, but as I arrived the one man was closing their doors. The sign says they close at 1:30, but nonetheless, I asked him if I could come in and he replied 'You better be quick'. Thats not the way to speak to a patron who is the reason you have a business.
Went inside and another gentleman asked if he could help and I responded that I was looking for the screws, in fact I had one in my hand that I needed to match, and he led me to that section and began to walk away and I purposefully said to him 'I thought you were going to help me', but he ignored me and walked away.
Of course I could not find the ones I needed, and I felt hurried and uncomfortable and I left, right past the man who let me in, with no goodbye, or a request as to why I was leaving without purchasing something.
Clearly some places feel that they are too independant for their customers and they don't need their business, whether it be R5 screw on a Sunday afternoon or a R1000 Gas braai another day. There are so few 'little' hardware stores like this one left, and ultimately a reason for it!
