Fraudulent Charges
"Microsoft *Xbox Live Bill.ms.net" processed two fraudulent charges on my checking account. The first for $74.99 and the second for $49.99, both on Sept. 1, 2010.
I do not own an Xbox console nor have I ever used Microsoft's Xbox Live services. I do not know how this company obtained my bank account information or why my account was charged not once, but twice on the same day for services I have never applied for.
These charges caused my account to be overdrawn, and almost prevented processing of the check I had submitted to my landlord for September's rent.

Console banned
My son was console banned from Xbox live yesterday without any notice or any reason when we called to ask what happened no specifics were given to us nor do they have too? He has had Xbox for years and very much enjoys playing online. I would like the specifics as to why my son was banned. As a parent that is my right and when microsoft allows minors to sign up for the live service without my consent verified? I feel the company is not very responsible to its minor consumers. They have no right to take his rights or mine away when they are not very responsible in the begining and expect these kids to read all those pages of terms and conditions which I printed up last night. They just want to play your games and with their friends. As a parent I feel I should have been notified if my child was in violation of these so, I could make a decision as to what? if any? violations were happening? What I should do to fix. I don't know because microsoft appearantly doesn't have to give you any answers or specifics? They can pick and choose how and who can stay on their network and of course keep their money too! Minors are called this because they need to be taught and guided not just punished and banned without any notice or explaination. Even our great legal system has to abid by this but, not microsoft? Apearently, Microsoft makes my parenting decisions for me. The way I see it you are not teaching these kids that when they get banned. They can go buy another console and pay you more money and get right back on the system. Wow! That's not really a bad system for you? Sounds like a really good system for your company? Where or what is the lesson being taught? After reading how to file complaints with your company it sounds like I could make any complaint about anyone if I wanted to get rid of a player if I didn't like them? I can do it right after each game I played? You don't think this is happening? If my child was swearing and that was the reason? Don't know though? The whole system should be shut down cause that's what the kids are all doing online. When you promote games like Call of Duty don't expect kids to say "Please" and "Thank you!" Maybe you should revisit complaints and violations and give these kids some sort of notice after a game if in violation so, they can learn proper behavior or have a chance to defend themselves! A very concerned parent!

Fraudulent Activity
We just had an unauthorized charge to our checking account from MICROSOFT *BIBILL.MST WAUS for $ 19.99. Realized that the only business with Microsoft was when we purchased our Yearly Membership for XBOX LIVE at the beginning of the month for $ 49.99 and now this... In reading the other complaints it was helpful for us to determine that the charges were in fact from XBOX LIVE. It's unfortunate that a company with so much revenue get's a bad name for activities like this. BEWARE!!! BILL GATES KNOWS SOMETHING US LITTLE PEOPLE DON'T LOL!!! I SHOULDN'T OF LET MY BROTHER IN LAW TALK OUR SON IN TO XBOX ELITE SANTA CLAUSE ALREADY HAD THE PS3 AND HE HAD TO RETURN IT FOR THE XBOX THE DAY OF SCHEDULED DELIVERY :-)
GOOD LUCK

Cannot get them to cancel!
This is the scam of all scams done by, you said it; MICROSOFT.
They get these kids to create "gamer tags"...of which, often many are created.
So, not only do you see the fee for 1 account on your credit card...you see several.
So, the kids DELETE their profile, removing the credit card information. But, SURPRISE...you still get billed.
You have TO CALL them and do it over the phone. The problem with this is that you get a representative in INDIA who barely speaks ENGLISH. They ask you about 10 questions...and if you are unable to get one of them right, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. My son created an account ages ago, has been trying to cancel it for months. Finally, today, I had had enough and got on the phone. I don't know his gamer-tag (he forgets it), I don't even know what phone number he provided. We have had several cel phone numbers since he got the account. So, answering the following questions isn't enough: VISA NUMBER, VISA CARD HOLDER NAME, BILLING ADDRESS - hmm, sounds like it should be enough to me. So, the representative in INDIA told me that the only thing left to do was to call VISA and have them stop the payments from their end. That is absolutely ridiculous. Come on MICROSOFT. Get your act together. Hire some North Americans (yes, this is a recession) and figure this out. I am sure that I am not the only parent out there with this issue. (I have had 4 accounts being billed to my credit cards...)
I support Microsoft in many ways. I have paid them a lot of money in the past - I own a private school with 40 windows licenses...microsoft office licenses...and now, this? They won't stop a $10.16 recurring charge on my credit card? COME ON!

Billing
In december 2008 our microsoft xbox broke down and we sent it for repair. It came back two weeks later with the memory on the hard drive completely wiped out. Games downloaded and points lost.
I have three children using it. The two oldest one could remember their old nametag but my daughter who is 8 simply forgot and made a new one. But she has been unable to play online since the end of december.
I have been paying for her online since that time even though she can't play online. And for the two weeks missing i still had to pay for the online for my three children.
Also when we paid for online the first time, i really thought it was for only one month. We had a choice of one month, three months or one year and we decided to choose one month, to try if we would like it and the problem is that microsoft continued to take money from my account without telling me! Very misleading!
I tried to contact them by phone, asking them to stop all payments but they said that they can't stop just because my daughter can't remember the email address. They said my bank should be able to stop the payments but when i contacted my bank they say they are unable to stop, it has to be microsoft xbox who has to stop all payments. So it's going in circle.
I called them again but they are not moving. It means i have to pay indefinetely for my daughter who can't even play online! I wanted to ask for a refund but i dont think it's going to work as well.
Really disappointed with them.

Xbox Live Customer Support and False Charge
I really hate Microsoft! I wanted to cancel my monthly Xbox Live subscription. I phoned up the correct Xbox Live customer support number and succesfully cancelled it. She told me that my subscription ended on the 25th February and she asked if I wanted to cancel it immediately or when the subscription ends. I picked immediately as it only had a day left.
Today, 26th February, I notice I have been charged for my Xbox Live subscription. I immediately called the support thinking that maybe it was just a mistake. The customer support person tells me that my subscription previously had infact billed on the 19th February. So this means I have just cancelled my subscription that wasn't ending a day later on the 25th February but infact it was the one that ended on the 19th March.
So I have now cancelled my subscription immediately which I was told at first ended the next day when infact it had a whole month left. The customer support agent told me that this was an error to whoever I called to cancel. She actually admitted that it was the other customer support person's problem. She then told me that she can not give refunds or reactivate my account.
I feel that this is no way to treat someone who has just had money taken from them with nothing given back. It may have only been £4.99 but it is still a problem as I feel robbed. I feel that their customer support let me down by telling me a false date which has caused me a loss of money or equally a loss of another month of xbox live.

Charging without my permission
I used to love my Xbox live, however for finanicial reasons I cancelled my internet and just let my annual xbox live subscription run out. Big mistake!
When my annual subscription ran out Microsoft, already having my credit card number from an online game purchase, decided to change my account to a monthly subscription and charge me $8 a month.
When I found out about this I called them to request last month's charge to be credited only to find out they have been doing this for 7 months! They of course gave me the standard Indian (not that there's anything wrong with that) Customer Service response of "We are sorry but policy says we cannot credit this." I explained to them that I had never authorized them to switch to monthly and that charging someone without permission and refusing to refund is called stealing. The rep agreed with me but said he couldn't do anything about it. After some pushing I finally got a supervisor, who promptly hung up on me. Not because I was rude (I wasn't, I'm in CS and I make it a point to be firm but nice), he just said hello and then the line went deadn. I then called back and got another supervisor.
This supervison now magically pulled evidence out of her butt that I had authorized this and also stated that they had sent me emails, which of course I didn't get because I don't have internet. There was no way I could contradict what she was saying because what proof do I have that I never pushed ok when she's saying I did. I then said
"That is categorically untrue but I have no way to contradict you. I am willing to accept that you are going to keep my money for services which I never authorized or used, however we both can see that the money you charged me yesterday was a mistake, and since I am cancelling it now you need to refund that money instead of charging me for yesterday and the next 29 days of service which I am obviously not using."
Nothing. Nada.
I even tried pulling the old "I'm going to waste more than $8 dollars of your time complaining so you might as well give me the money" with no luck.
Finally I just said "I have no way to punish you except withholding my future business, which I intend to do, so thank you for being courteous please never use my credit card again or contact me for any services" and said goodbye.
By the way, their only reasoning for this blatent theft was that the terms of service allow them to, well guess what they put out new terms of service in September and I've never agreed to them!
Boo Microsoft Boo. I may never get that $8 back but you'll lose it for all the customers I convince to switch to Mac.
