Bad service
This company has been calling my cell phone number repeatedly for the past year in an attempt to collect a debt from a person named FARRINGTON. I am not that person nor do I know that person... I have told them that everytime they call and they say they will remove my number but then they just call back again and again. I have used caller ID to capture their number and called back for supervisor but that call allways goes to a FULL voicemail box. I have asked the caller for a supervisor also and get the same result. VOICEMAIL box full.

Total scam
Midland Credit sent me a notice that I owed over $1, 600 for a bill from Citi Bank. I contacted Citi and they said I owed nothing and to ignore them, now I've received a notice from Alliance One on behalf of Midland & Citi Bank. I contacted them but didn't give them any information. They said it was from a debit from 1984 and they had my social security number. I wouldn't give it to them, so he told me it. My ex-husband & I had claimed bankruptsy due to an auto accident and it was finalized in 1985. I told them not to contact me anymore as I didn't owe this, but they said I had to prove it, I had to send it a copy of by bankrupsty discharge notice. Do I really have to do this? This is way of the statue of limitations in my state of Washington.

harrassment
First I need to let anyone know reading this that there are TWO addresses on the letters I receive from this company. One is the address listed in this header, the other is P.O. Bx 603, Oaks, PA 19456.
We had to file bankrupcy due to 2 companies going under that my husband worked for within 6 months of each other. Some creditors worked with us and some would not. This, Midland Credit Mgt. company called the first time after we filed, I advised them as my lawyer told me to of the bankruptcy, gave them all of the contact information, they were very nice and said that we would not receive anymore phone calls. I did receive another call just days later, I repeated all of the same information I had given prior to this phone call, and again was told I would not receive anymore phone calls. I have been getting letters now from them telling me they will continue collection proceedings unless they receive verification of the bankruptcy. My lawyer told me to call them, find out who they are collecting for and to get a fax number from them. I can only get voicemail with them, and no one returns a phone call. Their letter only has another collection company listed as who they are representing, and the total amount due does not match any creditor that we have listed in our accounts. I'm sure they represent someone, but, it looks as if they change the balance after they pick up the account, then you're left trying to figure out who is the original creditor.

Disputed dispute
MCM sent me letters over about a 2 year period suggesting I owe varying amounts and not in increasing order. Started at $7, 000, then went to $8, 000 and ballooned up to over $10, 000 and then went back down to $9, 000 and $8, 000. I like many others have played the card game bull... you know the rest, so I called them on it and said prove that I owe you anything. First they sent me another statement asking me to pay, then as stated by others they asked ME to give them proof of the debt. Finally some outside company they work with sent me a letter stating that MCM had NO DOCUMENTATION showing that I owed anything. Problem solved right... WRONG!!! They have recently sent me a statement (without the red markings this time) asking me calmly and nicely to pay $9, 000 on the debt they already couldn't prove I owed. I swear these people are a piece of work. I'd be offended if I thought anybody intelligent actually worked there. Best part is, they said they would report account as paid in full once I paid; lucky me! *sheesh*

Rude service
This company has repeatedly called me trying to reach my mother. I've explained it's not her number & she does not have a phone. I've asked for them not to call again, and they still do. I've been hung up on when I try to explain it's not her number. I called back today & asked for a manager & was told I could not speak with one, I tried to explain to Cynthia my request & again was met with rudeness, said she'd remove the number & hung up on me while I was talking. Called back & was told by Maurice that managers will not take calls that I could just leave a message.

No validation
We have sent Mid-land Credit Management a letter of debt validation...over a month later we get a letter in the mail stating-
"The purpose of this letter is to request your assistance so that we may reach a quick resolution to your dispute.
As part of our investigation of your dispute, it would be helpful to have a copy of any documentation you may have that supports your dispute. In the interim, we have requested the three major consumer credit reporting agencies change the status of this account to "Disputed".
Please mail or fax canceled checks, paid letters, police reports, or any other documentation you may have to support your claim."
What? Yes, let me help you sue me. How would I go about in writting a rebuttal letter to this? Can they even do that. If they bought the debt shouldn't they have proper documentation? Please help.

Bad customer service
Midland Credit is a collection agency, apparently. I got hooked up with them recently for an unpaid phone bill, which I honestly didn't know existed. Anyway, these people are very nice when they want to hook you but the pleasant attitude stops there. The website does not reflect payments made on a specific account and ALWAYS reflects the full balance due, even if you've made several payments. Surely you can see me concern on this matter. I called the company and admittedly I was a bit uptight but certainly was not rude or unreasonable. I spoke to a rep named Faune who was, prior to today, very nice to me. Basically she gave me a rather confusing excuse and hung up in my face. Nice, huh?

Scam artists
I just won a judgement against these scam artists. They claimed I owed them $1, 300 two months ago. The court gave them two months to come up with the proof that I owed the debt. On 9/24/09, their lawyer tells me that although there was no proof, the debt is now $2, 400! She offered me a plan to pay only $1, 200 in monthly installments. Mind you, this was never my debt to begin with. I gave her the nastiest look, told her if she thought it was fair to pay a debt that I did not owe and if I looked insane to her. To that she answered "maybe it is best that we discontinue this case."
My suggestion to anyone who Midland comes after, DENY, DENY, DENY and then insist that they provide proof. If they claim they are representing a debtor called First Consumers National Bank, this place no longer exists and if they ever had any records, they are no where to be found. Do not give in to their threats. That is what they are trained to do.
The one thing you should not do is ignore any court dates. You need to be present to fight your case and I guarantee you a lawyer is not needed.
Good Luck and please folks, post your experience with these scam artists.

Scam
My family is currently experiencing problems with Midland Credit. They are now able to get judgements without the person they are suing even being alerted that there is a court action against them. Everyone needs to start writing their congressmen and senators immediately and demand that Midland Credit be investigated. They also refuse to validate the debt when you follow the proper procedures. They also have attorneys working for them now that claim they found your info at your local courthouse and if you come into the attorneys office he will "help" you reach a settlement with Midland. This is happening alot in Columbus Ohio.
