Failure to repair defects
When we viewed the house we bought from Miller Homes the sitting room window was made of clear glass later as we were about to complete they then told us that they had just learned from the planners it was to be obscured and its opening restricted which makes the whole house claustrophobic as there is only one window and a glass door that you could actually look out of as all the other windows are velux type high up in the ceilings with no views. We learnt that the window requirement was a pre development requirement and not as Millers said a later intervention from the planners. For two and a half years we have been trying to get compensation from them for this but they have just fobbed us off. They also fitted a toilet incorrectly which meant for two and a half years sewage has been seaping into the fabric of the building they tried to get us not to call in our insurers. There are numerous defects like the boiler not having been installed properly and all the veluxtype windows in all the rooms leaking and the front door leaking and they refuse to put them right. We have tried to speak to the Managing Director of Miller Homes and Keith Miller Managing Director of the Miller Group in Edinburgh who heads up the whole MIller empire but they both refuse to speak to us. We have been duped and dumped and feel we deserve to be compensated but they refuse. We regret ever hearing of Miller Homes and because of all the distress and loss the window issue has caused we regret trusting them that they would settle with us. We are angry that they have not remedied the defects and left us with a substandard home. We would never have bought the house if the window had been obscured when we first viewed it .We wish we had never bought a Miller Home all the trouble it has caused us. Apparently this is not an isolated incident. Miller Homes are keen to tell everyone about the awards they have won but they wont face up to what they have done to us.
