On a very busy day, I watched them talk three ladies into unnecessary service. The ladies clearly didn't know anything about cars and they took advantage of that. They talked to the men much differently by the way. I saw all three buy air filters and I was close enough to see all the filters were NOT that dirty. They bought cabin filters, oil line flushes, etc but when a particularly vulnerable lady almost bit on a transmission service, I stood up and suggested she check with her husband first. They told them all to come back in 3, 000 miles. Needless to say they didn't try to upsell me anything. Most car manufacturers recommend 7, 500 miles between oil changes, and a good synthetic like Mobile 1 can go 10, 000 - 15, 000 miles. The computer on my Honda recommends changes at around 11, 000 miles with synthetics. Don't waste money and oil every 3, 000 miles. That was a marketing coup started by Jiffy Lube. If you drive hard or still feel unsure, at least go up to 5, 000 miles, the range that the Car Talk brothers recommend for regular oil. Raise your hood, pop the clips off the plastic box housing your air filter, and change it yourself for 1/4th the price from Walmart. My wife called me another time to say they told her that her air filter was dirty, but I changed it myself just 3 weeks earlier. I'm serious, ladies, keep your guard up with this establishment.
