If the MOL finds officially that you have been wrongfully dismissed, your employer can appeal, right or wrong.
BUT, did you know that simply by appealing, a cap is placed on the amount of money at stake ? If you are a 10 yr employee, and your former employer owes you 15k in severance, and is ordered to pay this amount, they save 5k simply by going to the appeal process.
No matter how ridiculous the reason for firing you, the MLRB will chair the hearings, and for the measly cost of $1000, your former employer can save all monies owing (over 10k) and appeal the MOL. If you win, you get 10k, nothing more. If you had 15 yrs service, and your fromer employer owed you 19 k, they can put the 9k in their war chest - WIN OR LOSE !
What kind of right wing cheat is this? How did your rights get sold ? Not sure but this is 100% true, a nd it happened to me. It took 2 yrs, which was an awful long time to have something of this magnitude unresolved. It was terrible and could ahppen to you.
