Advice to scammed!
ADVICE TO THE SCAMMED!
As of 9/26/09 you can call MNI at 866.883.3309 to cancel. You have to provide your SSN, which they already have so go ahead. You'll be given a reference number.
Before you begin here are some tips:
- Make copies of all written correspondence and print out emails that you send and replies if you get them. Put everything into a large manila envelope or file.
- If you used a credit card, cancel it. My Visa rep told me to make a "courtesy call" to the company, otherwise they can send your bill to a collection agency! Then...
- Call the above phone number for MNI. Put your phone on "Speaker" and record the conversation. If you reach a live person you need to tell them that you're recording, but I suggest doing that after you get your reference number. An automated rep needs no warning!
- Keep your phone bills as proof of your "good faith" attempts to notify the the company of your card cancellation and any other phone contacts you have with MNI. No need to subpoena phone records!
- If you used a debit card, go to your bank with a copy of the phone bill and recording. Speak to someone in authority! Follow up with a certified letter (keep a copy!!) to the person you spoke to at the bank. You'll get a green card with this person's signature back in the mail.
- Mail a certified letter to MNI. You may not have a specific person to address it to, though. If the company is actually at that address someone has to sign. It has been known that a shady company will sign a false name to the green card. You still have proof that you sent the letter and evidence of someone's handwriting, if not their real name. If the cert. letter is return "Addressee Unknown" keep it as proof that you did try!
- Use a scanner to copy the green cards as back up. They're small!
- Alert the Better Business Bureau. They're on line. So far NO ONE HAS NOTIFIED THEM. Another site FreeCreditReportsInstantly, which has morphed into CreditDiagnosis, displays the BBB logo! They were NEVER registered with the BBB!
- If you try to print info on the sites but it blocks out the company name on your printed sheet, use a camera to photograph your computer screen. They key elements will show up and the rest will match what you printed!
It will cost $ to send certified letters and make copies. But not as much as monthly debits on your account! This things happen even the smartest people. You're not alone!

Unauthorized Charge on Credit Card
This is not a real free credit report site. They trick you with a 30 day time frame to cancel the monthly service, and then charge you in 7 days. This information is on their site but buried for the average consumer who orders free credit reports once a year. Use the free phone service every year instead of online free reports with trials I, after 10 years of doing this learned the hard way when the economy is the worst. It is companies like these online scammers that are a detriment to the american economy and the goverment should shut these places down because there are bad reports of this company like this all over the internet.
Thank You MNI Credit Report.com for making me a little poorer and your self richer off the uninformed.
No More.

ripping people off
I ordered a free credit report, a few weeks later was billed $14.95 on my credit card. I called to cancel, whatever this was, but they told me that they can't give me a refund, even though the fee that I paid was for the whole month. So they cancelled me with no refund, for a service that i am clearly not going to use for the rest of the month. I guess it is free money for them, ripping people off like that. And the manner they talk to the clients is just outrageous, would never recommend this company to anybody.

I went on line on or around February 4, 2009 for a free credit report. On March 5, 2009 I was charged $14.95 for the free credit report. I went into to try to cancel and it don't even give me a phone number or website to go into to do this.

unauthorized charges
4 unauthorized charges to my account in 2006. No charges in2007. 8 additional charges to my account in 2008 for a total of 129.35. I called the phone number given to me by my bank to file a dispute. The persons at this number insist I authorized and downloaded a credit report, as well as have been receiving monthly report to my e-mail account for this service. However the e-mail address is not correct(typical of a scam). I am now forced to spend a day at the bank to fill out forms for all 13 billings to my account so they can try and resolve this issue. Beware if you call the numbers, do not give any of your personal information (IE. social security number, card numbers, or account numbers). They can verify who you are other ways.Give no more then your name or e-mail address. Make sure they spell out your e-mail address, it is likely they have changed something that is easily overlooked, such as spelling.
