I am moving to the UK next week and several weeks ago changed the address on my credit card to the UK, so as not to forget. I did not realise however that I would not be able to enter the Zip Code at the pump since UK postal codes are alph-numeric.
This is a local station for me, convenient on the way to work, and as I work 45 miles away have to fill up twice a week.
Several times before I have left my Id and credit card with the lady in the store while I fill up, but last week the manager made me go into his office while he called the credit card company.
Ok, no problem, if he wants to make sure that the card is not stolen I don't mind, however he was fairly rude and abrasive at having to do this.
This morning when I went in, the lady called the manager, as she had obviously been ordered to do, and he came out extremely rude, telling me in no uncertain way that next time I need to pay cash. I tried to explain my situation again, and he just went on about cash only.
I said that there is nothing wrong with my credit card, and if he didn't want my business then I could go elsewhere, and indeed I was left wishing that I had taken my business elsewhere the last few times that I had stopped there.
He said in no uncertain terms that I should do that, if I don't have a card that I can use at the pump then he doesn't want my business.
He was really nasty, rude, obvnoxious... I could rephrase that quite easily... but I am trying to be polite... I left there fuming...
I have the impression that this little man just sits in his back room office all day and that my visit probably woke him up.
I don't think that this is a good way to run a Mobil service station, and I wanted to put this on record in case you receive any more complaints about him.
