Verizon sales staff and support specialists are either willfully misleading customers about their global sales plans or simply don't understand the plans themselves. I was sold a 100MB plan for access in Italy at the same cost that I had purchased data access for on my iphone. Unlike my iphone and AT&T, however, the data access I purchase was only the amount I would owe to Verizon. I actually owed exorbitant fees to a number of Italian service providers for roaming. I was told that this was what I was buying from Verizon, not the privilege of paying someone else astronomical fees.

If you think you might travel out of the country, do not use Verizon for your wireless data access needs.
