My husband and I went to Dave Woods at Mobile Mortgage in October 2009 to get our home loan modified in order to save our home. Dave assured us that we qualified for a loan modification and that he was confident he would get our interest rate down to 2% for the first several years and then it would rise slowly over the next few years and finally stop at about 5%. Dave assured us that this interest rate reduction would happen withing 6 months.
I admit is sounded like just what we needed so we signed a contract and paid this CON ARTIST $2800 cash upfront in two payments. We paid a small deposit in his office and I met Dave at his bank several days later to give him the rest. We had to take a cash advance on our credit card to do this. I am still paying this advance off more than a year later. When we were at the bank Dave took the money then told me he forgot his receipt book and he would send a receipt to me that afternoon.
The last time I heard from Leslie was March 25th. I that email she told me she was no longer assigned to our application.
The last time I heard from Dave was April 21st.
I contacted the BBB regarding this. The tried to contact him and received no response so the closed the case.
Dave held onto some of our financial documents as his assistant was not available to make the necessary copies. He assured me he would have them back to us in the next couple days with a receipt. I left calls repeatedly and was told by both Dave and his assistant Leslie Miller that the documents had been returned to us. Not so, which has me more than a little concerned in this day and age of identity theft.
To this date more than a year later neither our receipt, nor our docutments have shown up.
In have emailed and requested a refund of the money we paid up front.
Please learn from my mistake. You can go through your bank and get your loan modified on your own. FOR FREE! I wish I had done so rather than pay the interest on the $2800 cash advance I took out.
