Monarch Media Group Reviews

Misleading Sales
This company mislead my partner that they were just confirming our listing with them. So naturally, he confirmed all the usual information. A second call was to 'verify' the information which, again, he did. When he told me about it I immediately knew it was a scam. My partner stated the caller left no phone number to return any calls and the number was blocked on caller ID so that I couldn't follow up. Invoice arrived for a ridiculous $489.99 more than 30 days later with terms of Net 30. Also on the invoice 'No returns shall be allowed without prior authorization.' Invoice indicated it was for a 2 year contract, never mentioned in the phone call. And, oh yeah, they will replay the tape of the conversation that it was an authorized purchase. Invoice also indicates recurring invoices every 6 months for 'listing fees'. And those fees cannot be cancelled without a valid authorization once processed. Looking forward to recieving those.

Plan on filing complaint with Michigan and Alabama States AG and the BBB if they don't credit this invoice and leave us alone.

Watch out for these guys. Our new store policy that I have versed all my staff (including my partner) "We do not accept telephone solicitations."

411 Business Advertising
This business is not legitimate. They are located in Canada but show that they are based in Michigan. They called to say they were renewing our 2-year listing on the 411 business internet site. Since I had only just been employed here for 2 years, I assumed this was something previously authorized by my predecesor. It was not. Do not give them any company information! Do not verify your address, phone #, etc.

I have read in other complaints that they alter recorded calls to say you've ordered or renewed their services and then repeatedly call your business attempting to collect on an invoice for an order that was never placed.

Phone Scam!
I am one of the unfortunate victims of this scam. In 2008, Monarch Media Group had called selling their product as a renewal. They had information on the person who had my position before me as I was a newcomer. I thought I would agree to their service to keep the department going. This was a paid sum of nearly $500. I checked out their CD and was confused by their service but had no time to look into it.

This year, 2009, I investigated their services and origins further as they were wanting $375 to finalize the contract (what contract????) and discovered that they are truly a scam. They only found names of people in the company and twisted their words so a person will think that they will get the phone listing for 411. Not so!

They do not provide a service that google, yahoo, MSN, web crawler, etc. doesn't provide for FREE! They aren't even plugged into the world. You'll find this out when you get a lovely CD with technology and graphics similar to Oregon Trail.

This product is no good. Simply return any CD to sender and throw away the invoice. You may get many calls or threats. Know your rights on consumer abuse like this.

Misleading phone tactics
I have the same issue as the other complaintants on here regarding MONARCH MEDIA GROUP. A representative of Monarch Media Group called to "renew" our services with their company. Monarch Media Group was very misleading in their wording and flat out lied by stating this was a renewal and that we have used their services in the past. I called to cancel the service once I received an invoice for $489. They would not let me cancel and said that our verbal agreement was binding. VERY UNETHICAL company. I have filed a formal complaint with the BBB and look forward to other companies to do the same.

deceptive sales tatics
This company called my business and said that they needed to renew the current listing that I already had with them. I asked them if we have done business in tha past and the man said "yes". Then I received an invoice for $489.00 for a listing. I called the company immediatley and they were closed for 2 weeks for the Christmas break. I called again in Jan. of 2009 and just got the run around. I explianed how the person on the phone tricked me to believe that we have done business in the past and that I do not have the money in our budget to add on new ads. They did not care 1 person said that I had 3 days to cancel and when I asked to speak to a supervisior she said that I had 5 days- which is it? And I did try to cancel I got a machine that said that they were closed for 2 weeks. The end result is that I am not paying this bill and the Monarch Media Group said that they will continue to send the bills with interest. I told them to go ahead you can't get money out of someone that does not have it. This company is a big scam- DO NOT take any phone calls wanting ANYONE to update anything- get it mailed to you in writing so you can look it over!!!

Solicitation by Phone

411 Business Directory
Phone Scam

Unsolicited phone call from Monarch Media asking to update the 411 directory information for our company. 2 weeks later received a bill for $500. No one authorized charges and fees were never discussed. Contacted customer service to reverse charges, remove our company's name from their database, and stop unsolicited phone calls. Customer Service denied request and insisted we pay. Will report to BBB and send a formal letter. Deceptive business practices. BEWARE!

Solicitation by phone
This company called and told me we were up to renew our 411 information. I asked if we do business with them every year. The man said yes. I signed nothing. When I got the bill, I saw their invoice looked home made and was suspicious. This is not through the phone company. They made it sound like they were. I faxed them a letter stating that I do not intend to pay for this. They later called and said the bill was due and that I gave a verbal agreement. They lied and I will not pay this.
