Rude Racist Behavior
The check engine light of my car came on while driving towards Niagara Falls. So to ensure that it is not risky to drive the car, I went to the closest Monroe Muffler. I told him that I am a regular customer of Monro Muffler at the branch closer to my house and he could check the details. He refused to service my car and said that you would have to pay me $95 for me to connect my 5000$ machine to your car. Then when I said that it does not take that much to even change oil in my car. All I wanted to know is the error code so I could decide upon driving the car back home. He then went on to ask me what my profession is and that then he mumbled something and then said " You know what.. its my shop .. I don't need to talk to you guys" and went into the repair shop leaving us stranded. I swore never to enter any other Monro Muffler even if I had to throw my car into junk !!

Stay away, not worth aggravation
I made the mistake of taking my VW Eurovan to Monro in Hilliard, Ohio to have the brakes replaced at a cost of nearly $900. Yesterday my caliper falls off the rear tire! I've never heard of that happening. To make matters worse, ABS pump now needs replaced and they are claiming the two aren't related even though I had no problem whatsoever with my ABS system until my caliper fell off and damaged my rim! Part alone is nearly $2000 and they are refusing to pay VW dealership for repair costs. I'll sue if I have to in order for them to pay the damages caused by their faulty workmanship. Manager's name is Larry Bowling at this location ... SAY AWAY, NOT WORTH THE AGGREVATION!!!

I did not get the service I required yet I paid so much money for the work
Yesterday I went to change my oil at the New Britain location. I was told by the manager Mark that I had to use the highest grade oil in my car because my car was and Audi. The oil change cost me a total of $96 and that was with a discount. This oil change cost me more that it did at the actual Audi dealership. My car only have 78000 miles on it. After doing research I found out that I did not need to use that oil and I could have gotten the regular synthetic oil for $35 which is what I went in for. I have two cars that I was taking to them and I will not be using their service anymore or recommending them to anyone else. The last time I took my maxima there I spent over $1300 replacing the exhast system and everything else started going bad. I had to spend another $300 to fix somthing else and the car still was not working right. I took the car to another mechanic and the fixed my car and now its running perfect. I have already made up my mind to not go back to that francise but if I were to go back to any Monroe I would need some form of appology and discount to compensate for the uneccessary monies that I have spend with the company. They did not even rotate my tires because the said they could not get othe lugs off one of my tire. I did not get the service I required yet I paid so much money for the work.

Either incompetent or scam artists
I went to Monroe Muffler to get an oil change. I asked them to check a rattling noise that I was experiencing on the front left side of my car whenever my car hit a bump. It sounded like something was loose or broken. After checking my car, I was told that I needed front struts, top mounts, and a sway bar link. This was to be followed by an alignment. Total cost: $1, 020.
Later that week, I dropped my car off at a local car repair shop that I trust for a second opinion and estimate. Later that morning, when I called them back for the estimate, they told me that the car was done. What they found was that a bolt was loose. A couple of turns with a wrench and no more rattling sound. They charged me $35.
What I have learned is that the technician at Monroe Muffler is either incompetent or a croook.

exhaust system/catalytic converter
2006 Ford Taurus taken for exhaust noise. Daughter in law was told it was the catalytic converter and would cost $750.00 to repair. Daughter in law called Dan, Father in law for advice, during phone conversation, catalytic converter cut off vehicle, without authorization, making it impossible for the car to be driven anywhere else for repair . Converters are covered under warranty for 10 years but only by dealers not muffler shops, which they know. Basically, Dan had to argue with Monro Personell not to continue with work & arranged to have vehicle towed to a dealership for warranty work . Meanwhile, we have to pay for towing and possibly any other exhaust work if damage was done by Monro when they cut off the converter. The mechanic, if you can call him that, was totally taking advantage of a young person that wasn't very car smart. Luckily she did have the resources available to help fight this battle. It's these kind of people that give mechanics a bad reputation

Stay away!
This happened at the Fredonia Dunkirk store. I had been going to this shop for a little while. They told me they would fix my car because it wasn't starting. They made opps. and broke them before two weeks later they took my car in for a full day and didn't do a thing to it and gave it back to me telling me to clean my battery terms my self because he was gonna charge me 50$ for it and it would save me money. It doesn't work so I make an opp to bring the car back in. he ends up doing the termsinals himself, charging the 50 for it and my car still didn't work. so I bring it in 2 weeks later (mind you this hole time this is my only mode of trans so I'm sitting in my work parking lot everyday trying to crank the car) "VERY EMBARRISING" The one worker tells me that my alternator is bad. They replace it the same day and they broke my 500 dollar navi cd player in the process. I worked with them for a while on it bringing my car in every other day just for them to say that they a=re "gonna fix it" To make a big loooong story short I called there corporate and they were very unprofessional. They have been ripping of college kids in the area for awhile now and should be stopped.

Bad service
Mechanic at Monroe Muffler caused damage to struts and strut plates in order to make more money. I took my car in for a wheel alignment and an oil change. I arrived at 7:30 am on September 1, 2008. The mechanic drove my car then placed it on the rack. 2 hours later the mechanic came and told me he would not be able to do an alignment on my car because the front struts were busted and rusted and the strut plates were sticking. I found this hard to believe because I had recently had suspension work done around my entire care. This same mechanic had recently installed a muffler on my car and a comment was made at the time that there had recently been suspension work done. I am truly upset about this transaction and want something done about it. I still have the paperwork for all recent work and witnesses that there was nothing wrong with the struts on my car. Monro wants to charge me another $600 in order to correct the problem which I believe was caused by them.
