To whom it may concern,
I recently had a problem with my car an Audi A4 avant. I had a supposed oil leak identified by Advanced pitstop in Dundrum Dublin. Advanced has previously serviced my car and fitted a timing belt and water pump and intercooler etc.. They then noticed an oil leak when servicing my car next. I was wary with dealing with them again since I was assuming they were probably were the cause of the leak when fitting the intercooler etc.. So I brought the car almost a year later for a service when it was due. I asked Moorhead Car Sales to check for the oil leak when servicing as they did. They told me that advanced pitstop never fitted the waterpump when they did the last works on the car and told me from a pressure test it was the water pump causing the oil leak and that I would need a new timing belt, water pump, headset (cause the gasket had a leak), head skimming would be needed, a fan belt, thermostat and alternator. They categorically said it was advanced pitstops fault but since I left it so late there was nothing I could do. They told me for the works it would cost €900, which I believed and let them carry out the work.
When I got the car back they told me the car was in tiptop form and running 100%. When I drove it out of the garage and down the N6 in Loughrea I notice the turbo was funny and kicking in late. Which was odd cause it was working perfectly well before the works with Moorhead and during the time it had an oil leak. I brought it back the next day and they told me they would have to check it out. Supposedly they pressure tested or diagnostics it again and told me the turbo sensor was gone, so they replaced it then informing me that it still wasnt working with the turbo sensor and they fitted a airlow metre.. All of which I paid for. So why did I pay for the Turbo Sensor? I have the receipts.
After that I drove the car out and broke down on the N6, they told me it was because it ran outta of diesel on the ramps in there garage and dirt was in the fuel filter and I needed to top it up and clean the dirt out. Which to this day still has problem starting when it never did before. Even when I let it run out of diesel before it never did that. Which I think is strange. Well the list of problems go on and on. After the breaking down, I drove home to dublin and noticed a squeeling noise and rattle from the engine. The squeeling was coming from when I turned the steering wheel full lock. They told me it was the power steering pump, which they replaced and charged me for.. After that I drove home to dublin again, but the same noise came outta of the car minus the rattle however which I found strange?? So I brought it back and they told me it was the belt even thought they said they changed it..Hmmmm... So that was that..After €1700 later and broke, and the car never driving and sounding the same since I brought it too them and two weeks later another strange noise from the engine and the squeeling is back?
What do I do? I don't want to go back cause I am in fear they are gansters or cowboys or whatever you would like to say about it? I am concerned I have been done royally and the work that was supposed to be done was done incorrect. I want my car back in working order and a refund or compo for the waste of time and money that they have caused me..
Do I have a case, can I talk with someone who can help me with? Please I am really frustrated and angry about it all! Can you advice me and lead me on the right path? I am frightened to drive my car and cant afford to fix it anymore..since my job is also in jeopardy.
I sent this mail to SIMI Ireland in November and they replied back to me telling me it was out of their hands since Moorhead Car Sales in Loughrea was not a registered member and therefore I was on my own. Now my coolant has been leaking outta of my car ever since the works in November and I am very concerned that the work they did on it was done badly. No I didn't stipulate this in my last e-mail because I didn't notice to some weeks later. I am afraid there is still a leak in the gasket or something worse. Moorhead told me the car was a 100% which it is not! My front wheel still rattles after they changed my break pads. I ask Moorhead to fix it, and they didn't. My power steering is still squealing in full lock even though they said they changed it with a working belt and pump. Can you please help me in this matter. If you go on http://mycarservice.ie/ and do a search for garages in Galway you can see it states Moorhead Car Sales is SIMI approved. Well this seems not to be the case according to SIMI Ireland who had told me previously.
I texted Harry Moore from Moorhead last week to inform him my car was still faulty. He never replied. I told him I was going to get an independent assessor to look at my car and I would get back on to him. He never bothered replying.
