1. I paid for purchase of Motorola MXP220 through Times of India Chandigarh India 0n 8 Aug 2006 by paying Rs. 10190 as advertised by the Times of India. Though I received the handset about three months after the payment.
2. The handset was working fine till July 2007. In Aug 2007 it started giving a serious display error though the set worked fine with a distorted display initially. Soon the display was almost gone with distorted lines all along the screen though I was able to receive the call but cannot dial since was not able to see anything on the display.
3. I contacted the Motorola Authorised Service Station locally and got a rude reply from them "we donot provide service to models not launched in India".
4. I bought this model from India (Chandigarh) through the newspaperTimes of India- how can a company deny servicing a model sold by them to a customer?
5. This is a serious issue wherein the said model handset (worth Rs. 10190/-)developed faults within a year of purchase and on top of it the company selling the said handset refusing to service it.
6. Please consider this as a formal complaint against Motorola and Times of India for violation of Consumer Rights
7. My next step of action would be to file a legal case with Motorola and Times of India in Consumer Redressal forum.
