Dear Sirs:
Your member Mountain View Fast Lube @369 N Mountain Ave in Upland CA 91786 Phone # 909-920-0498 has provided me with very poor service in the past, but the “service” they provided on Saturday, March 13, 2010 is the worst oil changing service I have ever experienced. Their service estimate was for $34.99. They submitted, and my wife paid their bill #59774 in the amount of $65.35. Their service order #59774 claims that they provided a full service oil change, oil filter, lubed the chassis, checked the transmission fluid, added windshield washing fluid, checked okay the wiper blades, replaced the air filter, checked okay the pcv valve, checked the air pressure, checked and verified full the power steering reservoir, claimed that I had a maintenance-free battery, hence avoided checking my battery for low fluid, claimed that my radiator fluid reservoir was full, and provided a free car wash. They changed the engine oil, but failed to inspect and fill the oil reservoir in the hood compartment, which was below the lowest add mark. This is not full service. I see no evidence of zert-fitting grease-lube as was claimed. This is not full-service. My wife says they did not inspect the transmission fluid. They claim they added windshield washing fluid, but on examination, all they added was water. The fluid is so clear as to have the appearance of only water—I have never seen the reservoir liquid so clear, nor have I ever heard of a windshield washing fluid that was clear. This is not full service. They claim that they checked my wiper blades and that they were okay. This cannot be true, or they would have noticed that they needed to be replaced. They did not notify me that one of the blades is obviously hanging off the holder and needs replacement. This is not full service. When they replaced the air filter, they failed to re-clamp the holder. This is not full service. They claim that they verified that the power steering reservoir was full, but it was clearly well below the lowest add mark. This is not full service. They claimed that I had a maintenance-free battery, which I do not. They therefore did not inspect the battery fluid levels. This is not full service. They claimed that my radiator fluid reservoir was full, but in fact it is totally empty. This is not full service. As if this wasn’t bad enough, when I returned with the vehicle on March 14, 2010, having done my own inspection of their work, they refused to grant me a refund. My family and I have 6 vehicles. I accepted their work as satisfactory from 2001-2004. Since that time I have encountered various problems, including a preponderance to recommend unnecessary services, including a transmission fluid exchange on a nearly new 2003 Mustang, which my oldest daughter paid--$160. I am not a cheapskate. I willingly pay thousands of dollars annually to keep our vehicles in good shape. All I ask in return is that a service-provider actually provide the service they pretend to offer. Evidently this vendor doesn’t believe in providing good customer service, nor in accepting frankly-offered criticism which would greatly improve their quality of customer satisfaction and increase their customer base. Generally, our experience with Chevron gasoline and service stations has been excellent. To-date, Mountain View Fast Lube has refused to refund our money. In the meantime, I have told my wife and anyone else that I do not recommend Mountain View Fast Lube in Upland CA.
Sincerely,
Mark O. Skilbred
