Ripped off by Mover

Poor Service and Billing
The service was terrible on two levels. First they waited almost until the last minuit to confirm my move and then were unable to give me a date for delivey, until one day before it arrived. The informational black hole I was dealing with lasted for over two weeks, leaving in the dark as too how long it would be and how much. The did offer me an estamit when I first booked, but couldn't tell me the actual price for those two weeks and the more than doubled the cost after holding my possessions ransom. From just over 800$ to 1800$ for a mover that took over two weeks to accomplish and had only one mover on the recieving end, so that most of the possessions where left in the garage instead of in the house, because he couldn't manage it by himself.

Beware.....They Lie!!!! Total Scam
NEVER USE THEM!!! I decided to use New World Movers and it was the worst mistake I ever Made. Jennifer who is the office manager is rude, ignorant, and totally unprofessional.New World Movers moved 1 queen bed, 1 night stand, 1 dresser and 1 mirror. I was given a quote of $240.00. They showed up 2 hours late and the driver went over the contract and then proceeded to tell me about all te additional cost which was never metioned in my conversations with jennifer. I was told that there was no charge for transportation...a lie!!! they charge me for them to go back. They charge a rental fee for carboard box to cover my mirror at a cost of $25.00 and you don't keep the box...rental for blankets at $6.00 a piece which were filthy and disgusting...charges for steps and .75 cents and a host of other charges...at the end of the day, my cost which I thought was going to $240.00 was a whopping $798.00. New World movers totally misrepresented themselves and the associated cost with doing a move. When I called to discuss with Jennifer, she was nasty and lied about what she told me and was unwilling to work with me...Beware!!! Don't use them!!!

Cheating
They cheat and threatened me to pay CAD$1000 after loading the house hold items to their truck. Instead the contract rate they harrased and took CAD 1000 from me for moving within 10 km. Avoid them at any cost. They suck your blood

Lost and Damaged Items
hired co out of Birmingham, Al. for a local move. Checked them out through the BBB, seemed ok. Set up contract was quoted 3 men, 2 to move one to pack up kitchen and dinning rm. They showed up with 2 men both about 125 pounds each. They packed and wrote nothing on the boxes, what was to be a 7 to 8 hour complete move ran into over 12 hrs. with gripping and complaining the whole time about how their boss ( OWNER) needed to get her S**T together! We had packed everything else with great labeling what went where well, it didn't happen! Items we lost, and damaged, and they went home without doing a second load! We had to go back 4 different times to get the remaining items. Antiques were damaged, glass shelves were lost including all hardware to curio cabinets. We moved into a new construction, doors and wall were also damaged, lamps were broken, which are no replaceable, including my late husbands funeral wreath! Called and spoke with owner Charlie she really didn't care. Said she would talk to her drivers and get back with me... Never did! SO, Be Aware they do not do as they said but, YOU STILL MUST PAY THEIR FEE!

Bad business practice
It was unfortunate that I dealt with this scam campany for my move from Michigan to Nort hCarolina.
At first, they pretended to be professional until they charged $200 for moving confirmation. Then, they asked me to give them two days window for the pick up.
I warned them that I had to leave my apt the same day they do the pick up and I should be on the road, so that I could be working the next day. They seem to be agreeing. The day of the pick up, no body showed up. The office wa closed, I waited until evening, the driver called to tell me that he will be in town after 10:30pm, when he was supposed to be on my parking lot at 8am.
The next day was Monday, the driver did not call, I called the office and asked to speak to the person who processed my move. I was told she was not available. Monday, I was out of work because they messed up my schedule. I called the office more than 6 times, and finally, some one was willing ot speak to me with no courtesy and with disrespect. I was told I have to wait until the driver calls anytime at his convenience, or cancel the service. I chose to cancel the service and got a local company to take care of my move in less than two hours.
I wondered how many people have been treated so badly by such un-American business practice.

loss/damage/missing goods
if you want "the move from hell", call" two small men with NO hearts" movers. a direct move within the same city and here is a list of things that were "LOST"/MISSING OR BROKEN
antique headboard to which I HAD the full suite.
2 carpets
bissel rug cleaner
3 christmas trees (1 with ornaments)
glass for dinette suite
2 casters from bed missing
bureau cracked
1 box packed at last minute missing
in addition, it took five hours to move a small 2 bedroom apt with maximum 10 minute travel. (3 guys)
in leiu of compensation, they offer $.10 on the dollar and if the loss is more than X dollars I was advised by letter that the issue would go to court.
