Booked with Moving & Relocation, Inc on 9/8/2010 for a rate of 80/hr for 3 hours. Told that the 80/hr incl. travel time, and there would not be any hidden or add'l charges other than the packing supplies. Specified that there would be an add'l stop and that was moving to a 2nd floor apartment. Items included a television and a refrigerator. Was told that this would not be an issue. No add’l charges or fees, everything based on total time to complete move. Total came to $240.00. The movers arrived on time, paperwork incl. rate of 80/hr, but for 6 hours. Paperwork signed and move was smooth until arrival at delivery point. Informed total was $1315! No belongings unless paid in full. Called company and explained situation and that the complete move should be $480 (# of hours on the paperwork and now told it’s an additional $500+). Person I spoke to, who I am now assuming was the owner, said that was "outrageous" and asked to be put on with the foreman. Spoke w/foreman and upon my return to the phone was told that $480 was the total cost. I repeated that $480 was the total bill and was told yes that was correct. The foreman given $480 and I was again told the bill was $1315. Again called the office and was told that I had to pay $1315 because of the materials used and add'l labor. Money was paid in order to get belongings after owner refused to negotiate. There are $475 in charges I was blatantly not informed of including $75 for the refrigerator, $250 for additional stop, $225 for 3 flights of stairs...again none of these items were mentioned previously or on estimate. Also billed for 6 hours when the move took 3.
This company was previously known as New World Movers, A Professional Moves, and now Moving & Relocation, Inc. This company continuously changes it's business name, phone numbers, ABA numbers in order to keep under the radar and it is time for it to stop! I found someone who is filing a class action lawsuit and I would love to get some more complaints to add to the list and to build our case. Please contact Brooke at [email protected] or myself at [email protected] if you are interested. At the very least please report this company and all it's iterations to every website that you can and the BBB!
