Their Warranty and Return policy states: "In addition to your statutory warranty (purchases that do not meet merchantable quality, fitness for purpose or match the description). TopBuy provides a 14 days purchase satisfaction guarantee. "
I purchased a cigarette lighter powered MP3 player with 4GB flash drive from Topbuy for $56.80 and when I tried it out, I found that unlike most MP3 players it did not memorise where it was last playing, so if I was listening to a 9 min section and I was 4 minutes into the section and then switched off the unit, when I returned several hours later it started again at the beginning of the section & no way to fast forward. When I contacted them on the 3rd day after receiving the item, to return it on their 14 day not fit for purpose warranty they refused to accept it back as they stated that if the item was used the do not accept returns - What a bunch of shonks. This is their reply:
dear Lenard, sorry we can not do the guarantee which can refund customer after using and testing the item. our 14 days extra guarantee above the Fair Tradings policy is only we can offer our customer a change of mind refund. it is not compulsory for us to do that. but it is an addtional special offer we give our customer. we have not stated in the description this item has a memory function. we have not mislead you. you can contact Fair Trading to inquie about this. your understanding will be more than appreciated. cheers.
