Our legal sources say Pitts rarely appears in the Supreme Court and no one could recall seeing him appear in the Court of Appeal. According to the Prime Minister of Belize, Pitts will be required to carry out the necessary police and judicial reform.
The biggest surprise came in the appointment of Bernard Q Pitts as Belize Attorney General. Pitts, is an old adversary of the Prime Minister and during the disturbances of the Heads of Agreement he was expelled from the UDP Party for corruption.
Pitts is an old man, out of touch with the World, no computer skills, can almost use a cell phone. Let alone deal with Belize’s problems with Human Trafficking. If you asked him about Human Trafficking his opinion would be “that is what people do in Belize, walk across the road”.
With Pitts now in control of the office of the Attorney General, the Prime Minister said it would allow his predecessor, Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington to concentrate on Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. Pitts and Elrington are partners in the Law Firm that bears their names.
“We have no hope now, stated Vivian Trill for a clear resolution around the Human Trafficking crisis in Belize.” Pitts is corrupt, his family are on the Police force, have handled investigations in which Pitt’s defended individuals. Investigations are fixed through Pitts family in the Police department.
Dean Barrow announced his long-expected Cabinet shuffle amid the dun, depressing atmospherics cast by the shooting ambush of his law partner and friend, Rodwell Williams. The threat comes from within Belize, Southside communities and showering the public with grenade bombing, $500.00-a-piece-assassinations and uncontrollable broad daylight gun violence.
The issue of Human Trafficking under Pitts watch will be left behind for him to catch bigger fish, with bigger check books.
